Tyler's Blog
Last two "Free Tour" videos for now -- from the recent event in San Francisco.
...threw in a second clip because it's the last until after the May 6 event in New York City (it's looking to be a big turn out -- I'll see you there!!).
(Incidentally it was only after watching the video that it dawned on me that *I* probably have a more retarded laugh than Stifler!! Uhhh, woops.)
Anyway enjoyed the event -- although it was by far my most difficult of the tour so far.
The sleep deprivation from the new baby had been mounting up -- and as a NON caffeine drinker (I drink de-caffeinated green tea which has about 4mg -- and that's hardcore for me) I decided to down a fully caffeinated green tea from Starbucks before I went upstairs.
Very stupidly, I allowed it to "steep" for about twenty or thirty minutes before drinking it. I had no idea this would have any effect. I've drank regular green tea in the past and felt nothing, but I hadn't been like a year off of caffeine all those times -- or maybe I'm just getting old.
So I go upstairs to speak and I'm experiencing an accelerated heart rate and a weird nervousness -- I even show a bunch of videos very early in the event so I can sit down and chill out a bit.
Lucky for me (and the audience) I've been speaking for many years, and I'm familiar with "how I act" when I'm "normal". This allowed me to do a relatively normal speech, although it was my least favorite between Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. I do NOT think it's evident from the video -- spare the over-analysis -- it was more of a personal thing, and how I was engaging with the audience.
(I'm always wanting every event to be tighter -- but I've gotta deal with the old George Leonard "Mastery" idea that the improvement-graph isn't always going to be a straight line upwards. Everyone's gotta learn to love the plateau!!)
On the positive side, I'm doing a pretty cool event with a bit of a higher profile audience later in the month, so it's sort of "re-acquainted me" with what it feels like to be overly pumped up.
Funny story about this thing: some buddies of mine run it, but they recently grew it pretty big. So I'm scheduled to speak there and I keep getting all these messages like "Congrats man!!" -- and I'm like "Uhhh why??" until I see how much they've grown. The event has always been cool and had high profile people, but I checked the event list and they've secured Bill Clinton and Ted Turner and all these cats -- and they may even wind up in the audience (I'm sure they probably won't be -- but the way the event is run is that everyone sits in on everyone else's events, so who knows?).

(If you're an established entrepreneur or philanthropist and you wanna go, email papa@realsocialdynamics.com with "Summit Series" in the title -- he can potentially make it happen, obviously based on whether or not it fits.)
Anyway I think it's cool I had this off the wall speaking experience leading into that. Not to say I really think that "everything happens for a reason" -- but it often feels that way.
ALRIGHT SO.....
Seriously, have you reserved your spot for the damned free tour yet?? Remember when I said in the last few posts "DO NOT procrastinate this, or you'll just put it off indefinitely, reserve your spot NOW while it's hot in your mind"??
Well if that happened, then realize this time that you need to get this done now. I won't be touring again any time soon, and these events are 100% FREE. Take advantage, exploit me, RAPE me -- click over to...:

Get it DONE. :)
ALL the events are being taught by "big name" instructors like myself, Jeffy, Ozzie, Alex, Brad, Ryan, etc.
My remaining personal events are these --
New York: May 6, 2010
Washington D.C.: May 12, 2010
Phoenix: June 10, 2010
Miami: June 24, 2010
Chicago: July 8: 2010
Honolulu: July 15, 2010
Seattle: August 19, 2010
Atlanta: September 2, 2010
Los Angeles: September 16, 2010
Austin: October 21, 2010
Denver: January 6, 2011
This is my first free tour since 2002, and it'll probably be my last for a pretty long time -- given I want to be around the newly expanded family, watch my kid grow up, etc.
Anyway people have been asking me about the "Hot Seat" event, and it's not available to the public yet.
In case this is your first time hearing this, the Hot Seat is basically our newest program. It's a FULL DAY event.
I never thought we'd have another program aside from Bootcamp and World Summit, but it turns out we've created a third.
I'd been imagining an event like this in my head ever since starting RSD -- basically like the "fantasy" event that I had in my mind (seriously...). I never really thought I'd get off my ass and do it though.
Anyway what it is, basically, is an event where we show an entire day of infield footage -- probably the most insane stuff you've ever seen or imagined, and then break it down with commentary, while doing interactive exercises to "hard wire" it into your system.
My goal in creating it was to come up with 1) the most effective single day event humanly possible, by any man on earth, in terms of transferring these skills into your head, and 2) to do is as inexpensively as possible. This format has allowed me to do it -- and it's GOOD.
If you're interested in attending one of these full day events, you can email Stuart and let him know to contact you about it. He's at stuart@realsocialdynamics.com and put something to do with "hot seat" in the title. Leave a phone number or contact info and he'll get in touch to let you know the deal.
(I'm thinking to make them available to the general public later in the month -- I wanted to get this out there though as I've been getting questions about it.)
Okay so I hope you enjoyed these two videos, and let me know what you think of the IDEAS in them.
I think they do a good job of explaining foundational concepts in new ways -- the "Best Buy" TV example is the best I've personally come up with for explaining how "Even though you're doing a direct approach, you're still not needy or qualifying yourself".
See you soon!! Hope to see y'all in NEW YORK!!

What are some of the ways you prepare for speaking events - not necessarily the Free Tour - but e.g. now when you're scheduled to speak at the Summit Series.
Do you usually shake yourself up and get into a more energetic state before you go in front of the audience or do you just kind of warm-up into it on stage?
Looking forward to the Copenhagen Tour and may hopefully make it to some of the U.S. events. Any chance you would be in Sao Paulo between July 25th - Aug. 1st? : )

DAMN HOMIE
I'm happy for you and hope you knock their socks off!
I'm either going to make the Chicago or New York free tours (I live in Detroit).
Maybe both.
Jeffy, I'm going to attempt to do a bootcamp with you soon. Read Nine Ball....Brilliant! I've given it too a bunch of non-community friends who have loved it in so many different ways.
Bon Journo Boys!

The bit you did towards the end was what hit me the most, about either being in a working or in a social mindset and not being able to relate to the other. When you were talking about this I felt like you were describing me nearly word for word haha. I spend pretty much all my waking hours on schoolwork and it really digs into my social life, I find that now even when I hang out with my best friends I find myself incessantly aggrovated thinking "I should be working, this is a waste of time, I should be working." So yeah I don't consider myself anti-social at all, I love people but I also love what I want to do as a career. Despite this I definitely need to set aside at least a few days in a month to be able to just completely let go of my studies, seems so simple. That related to me most but really everything you explained was well executed. Yeah, loved it.

Interesting summit you're speaking at. Some big names on stage with you. They used your Wikipedia article for the blurb on the webpage. Good times.
Phenomenal insights as always. TV frame and Stifler alpha laugh. Definitely will see if I can fit your tour into my schedule. Jeff was funny in the background.

About the summit: WHOA. Tim Ferriss in that summit? That stuff is going to be freaking legendary. I'd kill to go there. I suppose they're not gonna post the videos online, naturally.
Congrats Tyler, and rock that conference room as we're used to seeing, man ;)

No plans for Brazil right now -- been to Rio but not Sau Paulo, jealous!! Have fun in Copenhagen!

On the "continuum" of how fucked up my humor is outside of a professional context, a reference to "double penetration" would probably be a 1 out of 10 -- but it's probably from years of being around hot girls in clubs who respond to it (I've found that beautiful women tend to have really off the wall senses of humor -- because they've "seen it all" -- and it tends to grow on you).

The event is entrepreneurs and philanthropists, so it's all your "fellow people" in the audience. Those people you see aren't just speakers -- they attend eachother's talks and network after. The last 2 events were in Aspen and Miami South Beach -- they were both awesome and I hung out (and very strangely -- actually PIMPED) with many of the people you see on the list.

The bits in the event about work VS social have been really pertinent to me. Really had a big effect on my life -- glad you enjoyed them and good to meet you!

Also you'd often spoken in previous blogs and posts of wanting to transition into something else in your 30s (kind of like how Steve Jobs isn't just computers, he also does music and Pixar). Life works in mysterious ways, and who knows? this might be it. The power of intent manifesting so to speak.

Can you recommend any more stuff of getting addicted to emotions and/or mindsets?
I feel like the more I expand energy the more I have and I'm getting to the point where I rather do not even important stuff just to do sth instead of watching TV or doing nothing and "thinking" .
Same with the good feeling, being present/in flow or a productive/working-mindset, if I make myself selfamuse all the time I get in the habit of selfamusing and do it unconsciously.
Excited for the free workshop, definitely going to visit it in Germany :)
