Todd

Hey guys.

Todd here, with my last video before World Summit… AKA my favorite week of the year! If you don’t know about Summit, check it out at:

http://www.rsdworldsummit.com

It’s going to be AWESOME!

Ok, so here I am again, showing you the nerdy side of pick-up.

I guess that’s a funny way to begin an article, but I must say that honestly that’s how I feel at times when I’m amongst the other RSD instructors, or even some of the more advanced students. So many guys we deal with make such rapid progress and become so undeniably cool that it can be almost intimidating.

I always sort of feel that since I’m less “cool” and charismatic than some of the other instructors (read ALL of them) I have to sort of make up for it by having a really technical and honed understanding of game. So I tend to slice game up into these really fine segments and put it under a microscope in places where I feel most instructors would just say “beast mode” or “relax and vibe”.

I convince myself that one day I’ll be better than all of them because of my technical understanding, but that’s probably not true because they’re JUST… SO… COOL…

On the plus side, you get to learn from my hyper-analytical way of dissecting game, so hopefully you can make those fine-tuned adjustments as well.

I have three videos for you today, one I shot in Philadelphia last week, and two for Inner Circle. I really like the Inner Circle videos because while we spend so much time discussing the technical details of what Inner Circle is, these videos really get at the intangible aspects which I think are even MORE IMPORTANT.

By the way, for those of you who are still in the dark about the technical details of Inner Circle, check out:  http://www.rsdinnercircle.com

The video on that page explains what Inner Circle literally is, but these videos, which were made by actual participants, explain its SOUL.

Before I get to those videos, let me give you this week’s nerdy sacrifice to the pick-up gods. My topic for this week was the idea of “Precedent” in game, which is something I think we all understand intuitively on some level, but which I’ve never really heard mentioned in a discussion of game or social dynamics.

I think it’s odd that this factor is overlooked because it’s something I am hyper aware of when thinking about relationships. And yes, by the way, a SET is a RELATIONSHIP… It’s just a very short and new one. Thinking of it as such will probably be about the best thing you could possibly do for your success with women.

So what is precedent?

prec•e•dent
   [n. pres-i-duhnt; adj. pri-seed-nt, pres-i-duhnt]
noun
1.
Law . a legal decision or form of proceeding serving as an authoritative rule or pattern in future similar or analogous cases.
2.
any act, decision, or case that serves as a guide or justification for subsequent situations.

See, I really AM a nerd ;).

I obviously mean the second definition. Precedent is what has come before that has a bearing on how similar situations will be handled in the present or future.

What this means in terms of a relationship is that if you start out doing something you are often stuck doing that same thing in the future (or encountering a lot of friction). It therefore makes sense to be careful about the patterns you establish early (and always) in relationships.

This is the most obvious definition of precedent. In this video I also talk about two other ways that precedent is absolutely critical to both game and life… enjoy:

I really like the idea of “implied precedent” which is, as far as I know a phrase invented entirely by me. I think it’s an amazing filter through which to look at game and social value.

I also like turning precedent back on itself to study your own behaviors and effectiveness. Falling into habits and easy patterns of precedent is probably the biggest cause of unnecessary mediocrity in my opinion.

Hopefully you learned as much from watching that video as I did from making it!

Speaking of learning from making videos, I want to encourage you to ask me a lot of questions. I find after over a decade in the game, I have a lot of knowledge in my head that I’ve just internalized to the point that I don’t even realize it’s there. So the biggest struggle for me isn’t having an answer, but rather realizing someone still has that question. So whether comments or forum posts, ASK ME QUESTIONS!

Also for more random feedback, lines, information etc. Have a look at my twitter or facebook pages: https://twitter.com/rsdtodd and http://www.facebook.com/RSDTodd

Okay, enough about me, let’s talk about something REALLY exciting… like Inner Circle.

I have two videos for you on that topic today, and though the cinematography won’t be winning any Oscars, they are an incredible glimpse into the real heart of the inner circle program.

These videos were made, not by RSD staff, but rather by the actual presidents of the Montreal and Toronto inner circle chapters out of genuine love for the program. At the time these videos were made, the program was structured a bit differently than it is now, but the core remains the same. So disregard the naming of specific titles and roles, but notice the BROTHERHOOD.

That is what Inner Circle is at its core. Yes we will be providing you with videos. Yes we will have instructors answering your questions and helping you through sticking points. Yes we will send you on in-field missions and critique you. Yes we will send instructors to your city and region. Yes we’ll arrange details and communication.

But NO, NO, NO, Inner Circle is not about US. It’s about YOU. It’s about a brotherhood of like-minded individuals having fun together, learning together, and sharing experiences together. These videos capture that aspect of Inner Circle. The soul of Inner Circle…

Introducing Madison:

I just love how passionate and genuinely excited he is. Great guy!

If you have questions about Inner Circle or are interested in signing up, please go to:
http://www.rsdinnercircle.com

Here Madison is again on audio with Jaffar, the head of the Toronto chapter. Please excuse the rough transition in the middle; I put two videos together into one for you guys even though they don’t fit perfectly.
Also, there are some mentions of chapter roles in this video, don’t worry too much about that as it’s from an earlier model of the program:

Wow! I just love hearing about the crazy adventures, and about guys really being there to help one another out.  I cannot emphasize to you enough that while we will be providing a TON of information and support to the chapters, the true beauty of the program is what will develop naturally, and what has developed naturally already in some chapters around the world.

Once again, I hope you found these videos informative and I look forward to your feedback, whether via comments, RSDNation posts, facebook/twitter, or at a live event. My job as an instructor is to help you and answer your questions, so ask liberally.

I’ll be back next week from World Summit in Vegas. Can’t wait!

-Todd

Todd! Great vids. I have questions about investment. What is investment. Is it more important than value? How do you get it? Can you give some examples?

Really great video Todd, it was so relevent to my situation right now. I've started downloading your material now for reference, great stuff.

Also fuck charisma!!!

We already have Tyler, Julian and Jeffy with their crazy charismatic personalities showing us how to pick up girls in that way.

I want to see other approaches as well. Your last video about not over gaming really helped me a lot. I've had a tendancy when I'm out lately to try and be more loud, charismatic and entertaining. It's incongruent to who I am, I'm naturally a more chilled guy, and I prefer a lower key approach.

I think there are more ways to attract girls than being ultra charismatic so don't apologise for your approach.

Be the best Todd, not a poor man's Tyler.

Anyway I know you know this, probably just being humble lol!

Definitely good stuff Todd... Routines are like ruts, and it inhibits growth to get stuck in them. Personally I realize after watching your video that I've been getting into a routine in the gym and have to go back and tweak what I am doing there. Also, in the past year I have been learning to surf, and gettng much better. I went last week and got pummeled by some storm waves, which made me think I was challenged beyond my skill level. I was going to give in to that precedent that I was not up to snuff to surf in such conditions yet, and I really did not want to go back the next day and experience failure again. I made myself go and I pushed my learning curve and had a good day, which shot my confidence up a lot. Just like you said you can't let past precedent determine your reality.

Also, I would think that sponteneity (in terms of not getting stuck in routines) would increase value as well... Also, I crack up at the old videos. They are probably not from that long ago, but because they are not in HD they look ancient!
