This thread is for newbies or beginners or anyone with a "dumb question".

When I first got into the community, I had read the book. If you don't know what the book is, I can't really help you. It was only out for a few months but I got a steady and slow introduction to termonology and mechanics. I look at the community today and so much has changed. There are new terms and methodologies. In this game, 6 months ago is considered "old school".

When I first got on RSDnation, I was even a bit intimidated to post. I felt I didn't have enough value. So if there's anyone out there like that that doesn't have a clue as to what something basic means or if they see a word used all the time and they don't know, ask in this thread. If it's a complicated question well, you probably could make your own thread but I'll do the best I can. There are guys here that love to help in general and I'm sure they'll step in as well.

Don't hesitate at all, if it gets negative, I'll have the mods take care of it. No question is a dumb question. It could even be "Why do people post 'bump' all the time?" I didn't know that for almost a year. I also welcome any type of questions on forum use or settings that may confuse you.

If it's a question I'm not allowed to discuss, I apologize in advance but I'll not be able to answer it. Lastly, if I feel you could read a lot on the topic, I'll try to find where you can go to learn about it.

I hope I'm not opening Pandora's box here but I think it'll be fun and maybe help a guy out or two.

I doubt it dude. I doubt it's Pandora's box I mean. This seems like a great post that's gonna help a few folks out.

i think aa is a remnant of the old routine days where we-i included- used to go out "to pick up" aka value take, horny man, creepy man, hypnotizing-nlp weirdo. of course it makes sense to have aa because of this. you are being "sneaky, devious, palm reading, mindreading, canned-shit, dhv-lying, rat motherfucker - Ozzie

RAS, I think it was Reticular Activation System.

This is where you focus on in a situation. I thought it focuss your attention on high value stuff. Like when a hot babe passes when your talking to your buddy your attention goes towards this hb.
This is because she has a high value in ur eyes.

Ayone, correct me if I'm wrong..

I also have question...What is value? I heard TD in the blueprint tell it was stuff that helps you for your survival right? But I got lost somewhere and don't completely understand it.
How can you raise your own value f.e.?

RAS is 'Reticular Activation System'.

As Seminarian said, its when you automatically focus on 'high value' objects, people or situations. For example, if I'm sat here, chilling out with you and Megan Fox wanders in the room, poof , you're automatically going to ignore me, and focus in on her.

Likewise, if you're really freekin' hungry, and we're chilling out, and a plate of hot food strolls past, poof , you'll be automatically draw to that.

This is also apparent in friendships. Imagine this:

+----------------------------------+
+ ( THIIS IS YOU 'REALITY'
+ Your window into the
+ outside world )
+
+
+
+
+
+ --------------------------------- +

If you're on good terms with your buddy, you'll see this:

+----------------------------------+
+ N ( THIIS IS YOU 'REALITY'
+ N Your window into the
+ N outside world )
+
+ N
+ N
+
+ N
+ --------------------------------- +

Where N = NICE - or all of the 'Nice things he did for you.

If your friend stops 'offering you value' i.e. becomes whiney, lame, un-motivated, you don't have much in commen anymore etc etc - you'll start to remember all the BAD, shitty things he did to you - thus :

+----------------------------------+
+ N B ( THIIS IS YOU 'REALITY'
+ N Your window into the
+ N outside world )
+ B
+ N B
+ N
+ B B
+ N B
+ ---------------------------------+

Where B = BAD. There's only so much shit we as humans will put up with, so your view of that person will start to diminish, eventually killing the friendship if he doesn't get his shit together.

This has happened to me very recently. Luckily, my friend began to get his shit together, but I still don't see him in the same way. He failed his exams because he was pure, damn lazy, expects everything to fall in his lap, and isn't motivated to make his life better - bottom line - he settles for second best - something I'm NOT prepared to do.

Value fits in nicely with RAS.

Put it like this - we as humans are LAZY! Did you know, that the reason we walk on 2 legs, is because by not walking on 4 legs (i.e. hands and feet) we conserve about as much energy per year as whats in a packet of buscuits?

If something has "value", it increases your chance of 'survival and replication' or S&R value.

A DJ in a club has more value than your average chode.

A professor in a class room has more value than the DJ would.

Value is subjective. Not everyone places value on the same things. Look at 'Wall-E'...when he throws the ring diamond out of that little velvet holder, and keeps the case instead of the ring? Similar kind of thing ;)

To 'raise your value'...you should keep your shit together, have cool things going on in your life, and just be an all round awesome person. High value people don't give a shit what other people thing, and are happy in their reality.

Hope this helps you guys.

Correct you are, or when you in the desert thirsty as hell and plop god places a glass of water in front of you. There's no way in hell your not going to focus on that. So basically Reticular Activation System is what filters the information to whats valuable for you, spot the hot babe and you forget everything around you.

Value as used by TD is reproductive value, which is basically;
Anything that;
Increases the odds of you reproducing and the odds of your kids surviving.
Now females are hard wired to respond to reproductive value (in short; kids from a guy with high reproductive value YES evolution wise).
According to Tyler what represents reproductive value in males is not physical characteristics but mostly behavioral ones. These include things like confidence, ability to act in uncertain situations, ability to lead etc. because these enhance the odds of you reproducing and the odds of your kids surviving.

lol playayo beat me to the punch. I'll still post it up and consider it as a alternative perspective. shades

thanks for the inpunt remco and playayo.
But still I don't quite get why f.e. a Deejay has higher survival value?
Maybe I want my view to be too simplistic

Also I read in a thread of manwhore that he gave an Ugly Girl just enough value not to get bored. How does he give value?
