Hey, I don't want to be an advice-mog or annoy you with info you don't want to hear, but I'm pretty sure, in a drug-free male body that is not new to training, the human body cannot put on more than two or so lbs of muscle per month. In other words, most of your gain was most likely fat. Maybe do some more research on optimal weight gain for naturals.

Well, of course you put some fat on with the muscle you gain.

Other-wise just gaining pure muscle would mean eventually my body fat would drop due to the ratio of fat to muscle chaniging. You're body grows in a ratio. (unless you screw with it using a different diet, or a shit load of cardio)

I'm curious Jay-Lax, did you change anything up during those 2 months?

Were you returning to training after a hiatus? or switch any routines up? (generally, i don't need specifics)

Creatine, protein, diet?

did you switch to more compound / power exercises?

I'm one of those "hard-gainers" (which means i drink and smoke lol), and i wouldn't mind seeing my abs soften up a bit and turn into a bit of chub so i could put on some serious size.

Started doing big compound lifts, pull ups and dips. Added creatine and some other supplements designed to boost hormones (nothing illegal of course). ZERO drinking (actually I think I drank two times over the two months, and it was like one or two drinks at a club). The main thing though was hitting those fucking weights hard as fuck (till I was literally crying in the gym on the verge of puking, being that annoying guy who yells and shit), and eating those calories EVERY DAY. Took my protein to 300+ grams every day as well.

"Designated driver."

"Because I don't want to."

Doesn't matter, irrelevant.

Putting on 22 pounds in 2 months is asking a lot of your body to begin with; immediately throwing it into a caloric deficit after that and charging into psycho cardio land is just not going to help things any more in terms of catabolism, stress, and general HEALTH.

Yeah, I agree w that part, and I've read that going thru rapid cyclical weight gains/losses isn't so easy on your body... 22lbs in 2 months is a lot. I've prob gained 15 lbs. in 3 months, and I need to go into salad mode soon before I drift into full on fat fuck mode.

Here's the t-nation article on bulking fast/cutting hard vs. bulking slow/cutting easy:

I'm kinda torn... on one hand, I agree w the author that bulking too quickly is inefficient. But OTOH, when I'm hitting the weights hard 5 days/week and doing heavy deadlifts, there's no way I'm risking underfeeding. So err on the side of extra calories.

Best way in getting ripped fast is 50/50 cardio and weights. Doing one or the other wont work aswell. I normally go to the gym about 3 times a week on average. Its best to have rest days in between because this is when your muscles grow and expand.
My workout consist of
200 Calaories on Treadmill which is about 10minutes
This warms up your muscles and gets them ready for the weights
I then hit the bench press 4 x 10 with 40-50second breaks in between
Then do 3-4machine weights
Then back to cardio, on the cross-trainers 12minutes
Straight after hit the rowing machine 10minutes
Then hit the bike until i do about 75 calories
Straight after this back to free weights, and other machine weights
FINISH

add some heavy ass squats somewhere in there and you got yourself a workout that's at least 50% more effective......

I never drank alcohol at all until I was well into my 20's, and even now, at 33 I drink very little most of the time. The above works.

As does just saying you don't like the taste, or don't see the point, or saying you think it's fun being sober and watching all the drunk people. It's really doesn't matter.

A total of maybe 2-3 times since I started going out people have turned it into discussions. Every other time they've just let it go and moved on to something more interesting, or it's turned into the occasional hilarious game of "see how we can convince him to drink", which can be great fun if you use the opportunity to suggest they try "bribing you" (makeouts? flashing their tits? grinding you? hmm...)

How do you guys work out your hamstrings? Stiff legged Deadlifts and good mornings are pretty damn risky.
