Decided to shoot a video blog for RSDN on a topic I've been thinking about a lot lately. I tend to find out about a concept and think about it non stop, and notice it's application in different areas of my life... and IMMEDIATELY APPLY IT as best I can. I used to spend loads of time thinking of all sorts of cool shit but not applying it and I've made a concerted effort to cut that habit out.

Actually, doing a vBlog as opposed to just writing an article is a good example of this. I know I'm going to be creating a lot of digital content in the future so when I had the idea of doing a video on the topic I was like "May as well!"

After I shot this Brad put out his video on cycles of immersion and maintenance. In the vid I talk about the exact same thing, as an application of the 80/20 Rule. Thought it was pretty cool I came up with the same idea as an RSD Intructor (obviously it's not an ORIGINAL idea but I discovered it for myself through self reflection independently of hearing about it anywhere else).

Anyway, here it is:

Was fun recording it. Got a long way to go with my camera speaking skills but I liked the vid overall.

Here are some tips you can use to apply the 80/20 Rule:

1) Decide which 1 - 2 major life pursuits are important to you right now and decide to take action on them straight away.

2) Analyze what 20% of effort will give you 80% of the results. Cut out the useless 80%. A good example of this is focusing on going out a certain number of times a week, or focusing on the fundamentals such as having fun, being outcome independent and taking action. Cut out forum time, mental masturbation and "magic pill" techniques - this often accounts for not just 80% of the "effort" you're putting in but normally closer to 90% or 95%.

3) Expect to put spend a larger percentage of energy and time when first learning your new skill

4) After the initial period of "sucking shit" you can cycle out of devoting a large amount of time and effort and only spend 20% of your time you did originally and still get good results. This is a deper level of the 80/20 Rule.

Doing all this will cut your learning curve and reduce the time it'll take you to get good at your choosen activity. Good Luck!

HEY BRO

Looks like familiar territory hmmmmm

Awesome vid, gotta keep the mic consistently close next time but you knew that already

80/20 is good stuff. I also always ask myself "what's the highest leverage task I could do in order to achieve X" and go for it. Similar concept.

80/20 for me is simple
If my intent is get laid tonight:
1. always screen girls for good logistics
2. do not game attention whores (large groups of drunk girls) unless one of them passes screening (seems down and into you)
3. mixed sets and 2 sets are the best
4. this usually cuts down to 20% of the venue actually, but don't sweat, you can always reapproach these girls. No point in fixing shit logistics or validating some attention ho's ego when you could be reapproaching and getting them to like you if they blew you out in their error earlier.

LOL thanks.

Yeah had a super high quality lapel mic that plugs in to that badboy but its getting fixed so not used to holding a mic.

Yeah the vBlog thing is awesome. I've been doing a bunch of them for a passion project I was doing. Also just getting behind the camera for videos. Its surprisingly difficult at first, you just freeze up and can't think what to say. My friend thinks its cause the lens of a camera looks like a predators eye and we're physiologically programmed to react to it. I dunno about that haha but there is a learning curve. However, its a super fun one because being in the flow of talking infront of a camera is an awesome feeling. Keen to get good at it :)
