Came home to discover my once weedy friend (58kg) is no JACKED. The transformation is insane! I interview him for about 20 minutes in this vid, covering first mindsets, then behaviours, nutrition and finally how to get started.

0:00 - Intro / Meet Tristan
1:12 - Mindsets
6:42 - Workload, Lifts, Recovery, Complimentary Exercise
12:31 - Nutrition
17:34 - How You Can Get Started

I thought it was interesting how a lot of his mindsets naturally correspond to those taught in self development communities.

Hope you enjoy!

Just going to say that this is helpful. I actually tried going to the gym before and did not keep records... I only lasted like a month or two

Thank you for spending the time providing value to the community.

Sadly this dude began to recommend transfats... lol

Re:fat -- you need a good balance of a bunch of fat.  Saturated fat has never proven to be unhealthy.  Observational studies are bullshit.

I think the only fat to really avoid is omega 6 -- POFA or poly unsaturated fatty acids -- because they are so highly correlated with disease in rat studies.  That means chicken fat, seed oils.

High fat, moderate protein, low-ish carb on rest days (when working out hard) works well for most.  I've been feeding carbs after a workout for the NEXT day's workout with great success -- its about glycogen depletion yo.

Omega 6 to omega 3 ratio and how decreasing omega 6 is the optimal strategy for health:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12442909

Amazing talk on HIT training:  https://vimeo.com/27962168

KISS:

1) HIT
2) A sport w/ sprinting
3) Paleo-ish diet
4) A lot of sleep

lol protein, creatine & lift every day

work out with black people, their metabolism is super fast so they get big easy.. it keeps alot of pressure on you to work harder than them.
