Best as in less a "mindfuck" schizofrenia type horror, but more a type when you jump out of your bed/chair, and the girl next to you makes a cute "ahhh" and pretends to be scared, while you make her "safe" =)

From my experiance horror movies are not good for "movie-dates"
They are often depressing, disgusting and NOT sexy or hot in any way. I would advice you to pick a comedy or something romantic OR as i always do, something boring that will make you both wanna get down to bussiness.

Actually I don't think it matters that much since "Hey wanna watch a movie at my place" often means "Hey wanna have sex at my place" but if you have to chose a movie, go for something with a fun, sexy and happy vibe.

From memory I can't think of any scary horror movies. And that's coming from me who ONLY watches horror movies and has an entire shelf full of them. Obviously you don't want to put on anything sick like Guinea Pig.

That said, the scariest scene from any horror movie is from Salem's Lot, very haunting and disturbing:

THAT MUSIC!!! DAMN!!!

As a secondary option, you could try Pet Sematary (purposeful misspelling)... There were a few moments in that which made me jump, such as when the dead guy bolts up, when the mother falls out of the attic hung and when the little boy comes out from under the bed with the scalpel.

OH AND SHIT! I almost forgot! The Grudge has some moments but I don't remember which one I'm thinking of. The Japanese version (Ju-On) has a VERY tense scene which involves someone going through the closet or something like that. But it's all in Japanese so... Subtitled but maybe not your thing (or the girl's).

The Human Centipede.

She'll love it!

All kidding aside, I'd agree that many horror movies are pretty bad date movies.  I remember some guy on here a while back wanted to watch Hostel on a date LOL.  Nothing gets a girl in the mood like watching people being kidnapped and tortured to death!
