There is No Objective Reality

Reality, as you see it does not exist.

There is no objective reality.

There is only subjective reality – and we perceive it through our senses and our mind.

What we experience in our mind is NEVER reality – only a moderately accurate description of it, a speculation if you will.

For example; when describing an experience to someone else we can never convey our message with a 100% accurate description that perfectly explains what we experienced. Words simply aren’t an effective enough way of communicating and describing reality.

Sometimes we can get very close, but it is never ever completely all the way. We can never be absolutely certain that someone understands exactly what we are saying. You can be 99.99 % certain but that is still doesn’t make it absolute - 100 %.

Scientists and people all over the world make calculated guesses at reality often, but that is all they ever do – make guesses.

As humans we cannot know reality – we can only ever hope to make accurate descriptions that hold up most of the time.

However most people delude themselves into thinking they know everything there is to know about everything. They think that they are really smart and know it all.

It has been said by many wise people that the more you learn, the more you realize how little you actually do know. I agree with this.

By grasping the concept of no objective reality you are closer to the truth than 99.99 % of the rest of the world’s population and will be able to operate more efficiently in the world.

A congratulatory salute is in order!

Hyperreality

This is a hard concept to grasp for most people today as we are being bombarded and brainwashed with more ads, social media, television, and other frequent sources of information than we have ever been before!

These different inflows of information that you’re either being willingly or unwillingly exposed to form what marketers refer to as a hyperreality - which is defined as “a real without origin or reality” by Wikipedia.

You start to associate and perceive information and meaning where there really is none to begin with.

"What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons. You're born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I'm living like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't one.."
- Don Draper

I could write forever about this stuff and how much it surprises me what most people willingly expose themselves to – but instead of doing that, let’s get down to business and get straight to the core of the issue:

You ARE Being Influenced

Beware (be aware) of what sorts of influences and type of information you select and get exposed to on a daily basis!

The absolute majority of people are more easily affected by things such as commercials, friends’ opinions, the Internet, music and food, than they would like to think, and in many cases are willing to admit.

“When I completed my course work, it was my final opinion that you can never really get anyone to do anything they don’t want to do unless you use force. I decided that in most of the free world, 'force' is called advertising."

-Dr. Shad Helmsworth, What to Say when You Talk to Your Self

A few years back I used to be one of those people who adamantly held to the belief that I wasn’t affected at all by commercials or easily influenced by other people. The last two-three years I’ve noticed incrementally more and more how much I actually do get affected by these things and to what extent.

“You are the sum of the 5 people you hang out with the most.”

-Unknown

To some extent I was correct all along in that I’m less affected by these things than most other people are, but just the mere act of being exposed to it in the first place, is stupid. Why fight a losing battle?

Be proactive and don’t make that mistake to even begin with. That way you set yourself up for success in yet another way and increase you overall excellence by another few percent. It adds up when you fix things like this.

Be meticulous with what influences and information you allow into your life. Don’t spend time on silly discussion-forums, video-games or social networks, etc.

"Niggas say I'm crazy, I be thinking 'yup..' I was crazy enough to believe what the fuck I was saying was gonna happen, was going to happen... And that's why I was consistent enough and persistent enough to exist now."

"You'll be as successful as the mothafuckas that you talk to for no reason. What I mean is: if you spend your time talking to a nigga that aint got nothin' going on, WHAT THE FUCK kinda information could he offer you!?"

- 50 Cent

Avoid people who are negative, unintelligent, unconstructive, and unambitious and so on.

Never waste your precious time arguing or talking to stupid people unless you absolutely are forced to.

These things are just consumption of useless information or unnecessary time-wasters that won’t bring you any closer to your goals or make you grow in any way.

It’s not about being cold-hearted – it’s about staying true to yourself and not compromising.

If you know that you truly enjoy doing these sorts of things - then by all means continue. But if you intuitively know that’s not the case then stop doing it, stop it right away and break away from that negative habit/addiction.

When you stop wasting time on negative habits you need to quickly replace them with better habits.

Use the excess time that you used to spend on unproductive activities to start reading some good books that teach you cool stuff, or educate yourself in areas that interest you that you know might help you in the future. Look at it like an investment.

The only truly scarce resource we as humans have is time.

Time is money – it’s just a matter of how much!

The monetary value of an hour for a tramp is probably not more than $5, but to Bill Gates an hour’s worth is probably closer to $10000.

That’s why important and successful people do their utmost to make efficient use of their time and not waste it.

Carefully Design Your Own Reality

Look around your room/apartment, or wherever you live. You probably spend a lot of time there so it’s important that it’s an inspiring, calm and relaxing place.

A place where you can recover and recharge yourself efficiently so that you can get back out there and continue dominating!

Keep it tidy and have some things that motivate you. Maybe a few cool posters/pictures on the walls to remind you of what you want to accomplish. Things that keep you focused on your goals and draw out powerful emotions that you have anchored to your vision!

Before I exit my room I always look around and remind myself of what I’m doing, what my objective is today. It keeps me focused on my goals and helps keeping up the positive momentum.

“Success = a few positive habits consciously exercised every day”

- Jim Rohn.

It’s up to you to construct your own reality, step by step - brick by brick, to slowly but surely create a masterpiece.

If you don’t, you’ll automatically be part of the hyperreality that 99% of everyone else is part of. And take a good look at 99% of all people; they’re living vastly below their potential, are generally unsuccessful and average in most ways and in many cases miserable.

They lack drive, certainty and a depth of character. They know little about what truly matters to them in life.

They become worse the older they get. Wishfully looking back at their youth and let their egos make up stories of how cool and great they were (when they really didn’t do shit) - stories that they relive on a daily basis and live vicariously through.

It’s pathetic.

So if you don’t make the decision to step up and own your life, that’s likely going to be the outcome, at least statistically. That’s what it looks like to me anyway.

Don’t become a statistic, yet another boring cog in the system.

Humans Are Not Black Boxes

“Of all the self-help concepts I have uncovered, the concept of “programming” the brain with a more successful “new picture” of yourself is the most sensible. I am not the first behavioral researcher or author to figure this out. Others have come to the same conclusion as I, that whatever you put into your mind- in one way or another - is what you will get back out – in one way or another.

“We have learned that what we put into our brains is what we will get back out. We also have learned that the subconscious mind is a sponge – it will believe anything you tell it – it will even believe a lie – if you tell it often enough and strongly enough. The brain makes no moral judgments, it simply accepts what you tell it. The desk-top computer at the office doesn’t care what is programmed into it. It never questions whether you are telling it the truth or not. It just accepts and acts upon whatever you program into it. It makes no difference whether the things you have told yourself or believed about yourself in the past were true or not. The brain doesn’t care!”

-Dr. Shad Helmsworth, What to Say when You Talk to Your Self

What I mean by saying that humans are not black boxes is that you cannot expect a specific outcome unless you take all of the necessary steps in order to make it happen.

For example, you can’t expect to get a six-pack in one or two months if you’re overweight. It’s just unrealistic, no matter what TV-shop or some awesome before-and-after ad on the Internet says.

If you want a six-pack you’ll have to work out intelligently and consistently for at least a few months to a couple of years while maintaining a proper diet. You’ll need to make a few sacrifices along the way.

Humans are not black-boxes. If you’re doing something you know is bad in the context to your goal, then don’t get depressed when it doesn’t work out. Take complete responsibility for your choices, and be aware of all the choices and decisions you take on a daily basis.

If your goal is to make a certain amount of money within a year and you take a lot of breaks and slack off from your daily work too much – you DON’T have the right to be upset when you fail.

It’s all about probabilities. And you lowered yours by slacking off.

If you want to be successful and financially independent then you will greatly increase your probabilities by making the choice to put in a few more hours of work, reading and research every day.

People want a magic pill solution. Take a quick look around the Internet or newspapers and watch the ads and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

- There are no magic pill solutions. Get over it!

You can’t cheat your way top. Or maybe you can, I don’t know.

But what I do know is that you can’t stay at the top without consistently working hard and putting in intelligent effort.

If you slack off or get complacent someone else will be working harder and happily claim your spot.

I like the picture-text layout. Very clean and readable.

I agree with everything you said. It is all about information. Too bad there is too much bullshit information flying everywhere these days. The world we live in today is nothing more than an extremely complex feedback system. The better your understanding of the entire system, the faster you can manifest whatever you want into reality. It's a probabilistic system, if you want money then all you have to do is to increase your chances of getting that money. How to you increase your chances? By understanding reality better. (books, experience, mentors, seminars, understanding yourself better, etc.)

Why do I say the world is [almost like] a probabilistic system? I say this because there is no 100% sure way of getting what you want. There is no 100% sure way because our understanding can never reach near 100%. The entire system is too complex to be understood by human beings. So our only way of getting what we want is to have a partial understanding of the entire reality. Once we have that partial understanding, we increase our chance of getting that thing we want.

Yes it's a good idea to surround yourself with smart and motivated people because they give you a clearer perception of the truth (a.k.a. a better understanding of reality)

Well said and pictured. That 50 cent video hooked me.

isn't it interesting how the concepts you write about are scattered all over this forum?

Anyways, thanks, I took value from it.

Glad it helped.

Yeah I'm sure it is. I'm not saying I came up with any of these concepts. This is just my take on the thing.
