If the default is to be lazy, we can't trust our own premise and evaluation of what it takes to be succesful. We're scewed.

This has happened in every area of my life; Misjudging what it takes to complete a project, falsely assuming which sets are a go, eating more carbs after each heavy cardio session etc.

Fumbles happen when you think you got it. But untill you actually have it, KEEP working and keep hustlin like you were at the bottom.

I've realised how my brain works by observing it. How it quickly tries to latch on to indicators and false assumptions about success. That's why we procrastinate facing reality.

But let me ask you; How many times have you been wrong in your assumptions when you tested them? Assuming you test them at all... How many times more do you have to fumble before you start realizing you DON'T have it?

Develop a healthy sense of paranoia. Shit, even an unhealthy one will get you the result more than a lacking ANY sort of paranoia.

Assume that you're ALWAYS behind, assume the shit YOU just learned, EVERYONE else already knows. Get a sense of urgency. The Talent Code talks about how younger siblings usually developed into being the fastest runners, because they had to keep up.

Unless you're a millionaire, have a playboy mansion, a food supply stash in the desert and a tight network willing to help you out, guess what: WE'RE BEHIND!

"But Duck, shouldn't we have a balance and be able to enjoy what we have?" Definitely. But old newsflash; What we call urgency or stressful situations, is what people 50 years ago damn near saw the pinnacle. We're soft. We're by default a soft generation.

Do what you have to do, to get that sense of urgency. I bet you tried meditation and you tried Tolle and you tried the healthy diet and you tried working out. Those things are the shoes for you to walk the path to success in. But they're not going to walk it for you!

Do the SIMPLE things and do the DIFFICULT things. Everything in the middle is just dabbling and forging an illusion of you getting better. When a running back fumbles too many times, he often carries the ball with him ALL week long, to meeting, to the cafeteria and asks his teammates to knock it from him. For 50 Cents upcoming album Street King Immortal, he recorded 70 songs, knowing that only 14-15 of those are going to be on the actual release.

Take massive action, so that FROM that, RIGHT action occurs. You can't take RIGHT action, because RIGHT action comes comparatively to WRONG action.

Our civilization didn't get to the point we're at now in the search of massive action. We take action, yes, and a lot, but always in the search of EFFICIENCY. Proper preparation, then proper action, then proper analysis.

Usually we take massive action just because we have our idea in mind and we just don't allow different point of views to help us that could make our actions 100x times more efficient (myself included).

Duck mate, that there is another brilliant post.

I agree with the narrative but, I am not sure what your call of action is?

I suppose, we each have a path to take, and to listen to our hearts as in whatever resonates from within.

Define proper without an understanding of improper.

I'm not suggesting to reinvent the wheel from scratch. I'm saying that there's no way to BECOME efficient in learning how to DO something, without doing it (inefficiently) over and over again to begin with.

Even if you spent hours on finding and remembering theory from the master in your field, it wouldn't mean shit because A) you can't comprehend his info on a deep level since it's based on his experience or B) because you can't DO it by reading about it.

You stay on the lookout for information that shortens your learning curve, but we will inherently fail by way of either misunderstanding the theory, not knowing how to do what it says or a number of other dynamic factors which are exposed by TAKING ACTION.

With pick up? pulls? Stunners or you talking more professionally speaking?

I find sometimes, we can over do it, and we had it, and too much is teetering on being the dancing monkey.

Its all really paradoxical. And sometimes, despite all the pick up and jargon that is out there, its still not happening.

I am okay with that.

Nice post!

Someone wrote a book on this topic, I saw it at the airport but haven't read it yet.

I think the only thing that's been calling me to more action lately is the real understanding that if i fail i'm going to be in a REALLY shitty situation

I need to pick up my appraoches and the amount of time I invest in my business because I burned a few bridges that were keeping me comfortable

Now I just have to keep my eyes on the prize and focus on how good it's gonna feel when i get there!

@earthbound: One thing that helps me is falling in love with each step and each task. So although the greater vision is amazing, being present to each step makes today feel great as well.

@amb: Not talking about doing more in terms of impressing the girl which leads to the dancing monkey syndrome. It's about everything. Approaching more, expressing more, working more in business. Btw. love Balotteli. Heard Drake's verse about him?

@Tyler: Thanks for the recommendation, will check the book out.

Thanks for the recommendation, decided to check this out. Reading it now and it's a pretty sweet book.

Fuckin Draper... I love Old Fashioned's.

My view is also: To even get the initial 50% market share, you're going to have to double the amount of action you ESTIMATE will get you to that point.

Season 5 of Mad Men Don Draper said something about not being happy with 50% market share, that you should aim for 100%, even though 50% is fuking GOOD, always be moving forward.
