What is this "investment" stuff?

I see everyone on here talk about investment, and I feel like I know what it is in theory. I don't understand what it looks like, or what it actually is. I gather that getting a girl to "invest" consists of fucking with her emotions and moving them all over the place, but it doesn't seem to click with me. Any more clarification on the "investment" concept would be awesome. Examples?

As far as I know: Investment = compliance + time spent (reacting) with you

The more time/effort/thought/compliance she puts into you the more attached she'll be.

Does that "time/effort/thought/compliance" all have to be "positive"? As in, if I make some girl confused/conflicted by fucking with her emotions and she starts playing games and shit-testing hard, does the shit-testing and game-playing count as investment?

 Its a pretty simple concept.

A hamburger tastes 10 times better if you ran 10 miles to chase down that cow.  A high test score feels more satisfying when you studied hard for it rather than cheating.  Your six pack looks more amazing when you did all that cardio and crunches rather than someone else who did liposuction.  That new shiny item in Diablo 3 feels more satisfying when you farmed for 10 hours over night than if some random guy gave it to you.

Nope.  It definitely doesn't have to be positive.

The other thing to add here is that:

Investment builds influence.

That's why you are doing this.

IMO this isn't something to focus on in field but to realize when you are and are not doing it in debrief.

I think it's a great MODEL to apply to an interaction, successful or not (whatever this means for you at the time).  To make this into some 'objective' that you are 'trying for' will only fuck your shit up.  Then again, go and play with it actively to experience it.  Not something I ever think about when out but an interesting thing to discuss.

Don't take this shit too seriously if you are not approaching A LOT of women every month, FOR MONTHS.

My advice
