I know in the pick up lifestyle fights arent common but they do happen and I am more of a confrontational person. What fighting style would be better to learn BJJ or Kick Boxing? I thought kick boxing wud be better in general for me since its right to the point, punch a stupid mother fucker in the face. The only reason BJJ might be better wud be for inner game purposes maybe? idk much about bjj but I want to get my fighting style and skills better.

Krav Maga hands down.  It teaches you all of the usefull shit from BJJ and Kickboxing that will actually help in a street fight on top of how to handle multiple opponents, armed attackers, suprise attacks, and the most efficient ways to neutralize a dangerouse situation.  it was developed by the Israeli military for counter terrorism, warfare, police, bodyguards, and self defense.  I have been doing it for a few years now and it is the fucking shit.  I can for sure kick the piss out of anyone, and it has even gotten me laid since allot of girls take Krav Maga for self defense and I bang chicks from my classes ;)

Depending on where you are, look up Keysi (or KFM). For example, they take you to nightclubs and get people to beat the shit out of you, with lights music and bottles, then they train you down dark allies (no joke). You defend against knives, bottles and guns. Its full contact on the first lesson, so expect bruising. It was one of the biggest rushes in my life (apart from chatting up girls of course). I think KFM beats everything  if you're into game, but, it can be hard to find a class. Failing that, try Krav Maga, then if not, BJJ.

Boxing. BJJ is good for MMA. On the street you have a gread chance to get killed on the floor.

I was looking into this a while ago, but there isn't anywhere near me that does it. Think I read somewhere that it was developed by a Spanish guy and a British guy.

They seem to go full bore with the techniques, but I think that's possibly a more effective that way to learn. If you're put in high pressure situations in practice, you'll be better able to handle the pressure when the shit hits the fan for real.

bjj is a good art though, the problem is that, many of the clubs you find are frauds.

You got some bloke teaching who has no place being their.

The same goes for forum advice when, many of those posting have never seen a vagina before.

Do some research. Check the clubs out. See what interests you most and that you would be interested in coming back.

One of my mates is heavily into martial arts and he has found a great club to go to that is really dedicated to the authenticity of the art.

Its not someone who got a black belt from his basement or purchased it off ebay.

The sad truth is that, there are many great arts like Karate or bjj however, many of these arts have been watered down to the point of no return.

Karate for instance has roots that go back to Japan and a black belt should follow that. Machida karate for instance is currently taught in Brazil however, his father brought it from Japan.

Trace back the clubs roots. Most likely, its a club trying to make money off mma and ufc success.

As a person who has trained MMA and taken seperate BJJ classes I aggree with RocknRoll with Krav Maga. The advantages of Krav Maga versus any other martial art:

1. It deals with real life situations, weapons, obstacles etc.
2. It teaches you how to go for something 100%. This will also help in your interactions with women because you're being 100% convinced in way you say through learning to be 100% congruent with you actions in training.
3. Deals with multiple attackers and how to escape a situation safely.

Most other martial arts or even MMA don't address these points. Krav Maga is legit.

If you want to learn to defend yourself take a self-defense course, will take you years to learn to effectively apply a martial art.

Here a quick course (not sorted)

- Think your attacker wants to kill your children.
- Strike first at the least sign of danger (the attacker start coming to you, etc)
- Use your head (literally)
- Kick the eggs
- Bite
- Push
- Scream like crazy
- Let your opponent on the ground and get out.

It works for me, good luck.
