Romney pretty much wants to be legal and wants to outlaw abortion, cuz like most right wingers, he can't get laid and cuz of that he is repulsed by women actually having a choice when it comes to sex and fertility. Its been like that for decades and IMO it is pretty chodish. Obama cares more about becoming famous via "Obamacare" than anything else so he's just a selfish prick. I agree with Romney (and most other right wingers') opinion that was displayed in the Mother Jones video however. The government doesn't owe me shit and if it did than I would have to owe IT. And thats not cool and I know first hand cuz student loan repayments are NOT cheap. Only thing I want the government to do is to regulate corporations this way we don't have monopolies.

It was a sad day for me when Ron Paul got beat out of the race as he really was the better of the three. Paul should have gotten elected 4 years ago.

Why is this an issue? Many people are on the government's tit.

Why is this an issue? Many people are on the government's tit.

Its an issue because unless we get off of government's tit, we are gonna wind up Like North Korea and have curfews and whatever. I'm cool with the government providing roads, power, water, and in some extreme circumstances money for food, but when they start giving ppl homes, loans to run a business, and healthcare thats when I draw the line. The left wingers believe that the government should provide EVERYTHING and that just isn't right.

At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, I get $100 of food stamps every month. I applied just to see if I would get approved or not and because my job is so lame, they offered $200 but I only really needed $100 so I took that instead. So if the government is willing to help me I will take what I think I need cuz I don't feel entitled anyways, I see it as a privelege. Problem is not many ppl think like I do, they will live with their parents, take the $200 food stamps, sell drugs (which doesnt really count as income since it is under the table so they can still apply for foodstamps as a homeless person cuz they live with their parents), and buy that fancy car with the money they make from selling the drugs instead of getting a real job. We are too entitled and not greedy enough that is the problem. A LOT of this has to do with social conditioning, the notion that "the government isn't doing enough for us!" In fact, they are doing WAY TOO MUCH.

I'm sure he's a bright guy and all that, but I'll never vote for a guy who is against women's rights and gay rights. It's enough already, get over it, welcome to the 21st century etc. I also have a problem with his religious views. It's just too extreme and old fashioned. Also that Bane enterprises he worked at and made millions at is shady as fuck.
He also still hasn't released his tax returns because he probably has a ton of money stashed overseas. Again, not exactly illegal, but not the morally right way to do business. That kind of shit makes capitalism look bad, while it's a beautiful thing if it's done right.

 His statement was logically backwards:

47% of people don't pay income tax, therefore, they are living off of the government.

All paying income tax means is that the government is living off of you.

What? What is "logically backwards".?

And yes if 47% of the people are living off the government and then 53% is indeed being fed upon.

Yes, they are... by the government.

Not really here to discuss politics though, so I'm gonna excuse myself from the thread :).

Election is played out in "sound bites" for the media to go off on.

Mitt Romney is trying to say that Obama is playing "yes man" to the voters by offering them government jobs and social programs.  That's a fair enough comment, because obviously there's going to be a percentage of people who vote for Obama just because they get something from him directly.

Like I know a girl who recently said "I have to vote for Obama because without him my healthcare is fucked" -- but she also has failed to make the money to purchase her own insurance and instead partied a lot.

Conversely they've attacked Obama for saying "I believe in the distribution of wealth to an extent" when UNLESS Romney is going to COMPLETELY cut taxes down to zero percent, then HE BELIEVES THE SAME THING.

Even a flat 10% tax is still redistribution of wealth.  Wooooo!

So Obama is attacking him for SOUND BITES and Romney is firing back for SOUND BITES.

No real discussion of eachother's positions, because the public would become too bored.  Going crazy about sound bites is more fun and easier to digest while you're eating your cheetos in front of the TV.

I'm a smart enough guy and EVEN I DO NOT HAVE A SUFFICIENTLY CLEAR IDEA OF WHAT THE FUCK THESE PEOPLE STAND FOR.

I can't understand how the government is run and if I were American I wouldn't be personally qualified to vote because all I have to go on is how "likeable" each of the candidates are.  In that case I'd vote for Obama for being more likeable than Romney, but I'm really not clear what either of them would do aside from a general idea that isn't sufficient to vote.

Like I generally "get it" that Obama wants more government involvement and Romney wants less.  Obama feels that government intervention helps grow the economy while Romney feels that if you remove the involvement it sort of grows on it's own.  But then again I'm not totally sure what all that exactly entails beyond a few different programs they've revealed their positions towards.

And do these people REALLY have the ability to "fix the economy" or is that not more ON US as citizens?  Whoever gets voted in, it seems more like it's on the people themselves.  It's hard for me to believe a few policy changes make that big of a difference one way or the other -- BUT AGAIN I'm not even qualified to decide on this because I'm not INFORMED enough -- beyond little stupid sound bites I hear LOL.
