 Yes. There was a dude who used to do pickup in '06 that used pua tactics to make several million dollars for a finance company. He ended up re-branding the pickup techniques and wrote a book about it called pitch anything.

 The correlations are unreal. At the root of it though is being able to sell yourself (article).
