THE FORUMS
"I grew up constantly challenging myself, and continue to do so, so if I read authors like Ayn Rand or Eckhart Tolle I don't become some right wing crazy person or a woo woo spiritual lamo. I take the good and discard the bad, pretty much effortlessly. It's soooo easy to spot biases in people's work, it blows me away that people can't do this consistently, but again this comes from decades of being mentally lazy and not being challenged."
I've never met you Tyler, so this is just coming off the impression I have of you from your programs, posts and videos on rsdnation, but I'd say that the reason why you can do this probably has more to do with your interest and studies in philosophy than your "general mental discipline." I remember when I took a course on philosophy at University I was often frustrated at all the contridictions between different systems. I was young, and wanted everything to fit together like a nice neat little puzzle, which of course it didn't. I didn't like how there were plausable arguments for and against vastly different viewpoints. I wanted to know the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. I hated any ambiguity.
I got better at critically thinking about ideas though, and learned to recognise biases, like yourself, although I wouldn't say it's easy for me yet, more just like a hunch most of the time. Although I had never heard "the map is not the territory" at the time, I came to view the world of ideas that way and I gained a lot more understanding than if I hadn't.
The way I see it is that mental dicipline and not being lazy is very important and does all sorts of stuff for you like making you more tolerant of doing something boring for a long time, or for resisting some sort of emotional temptation, but I can't really see how challanging yourself and improving your mental dicipline in general would help you deal with ideas better (unless of course you're challanging yourself to learn how to deal with ideas better :P).
Just my two cents.

I learn more and more everytime I read these blogs and watch these videos though yes the true learning comes through experience!
The reason I allow different instructors to put up different opinions is that I trust YOU to figure out what works. I decided a long time ago I wasn't going to stop high quality content from being releasing and punishing the intelligent people, because I was afraid the dummies will misinterpret it.
Thanks man. If you chose to censor content to appease a higher percentage of your audience, you would alienate a lot of guys -- and those are the guys that usually end up taking a BC or going to Summit. The guys that crave the knowledge :)
Nice reality check in the first VID. Not a fan of the delivery. The background was uh-mazing though, nice angle. Experimenting with your speaking style and putting it out for public opinion is going to have massive long-term returns. SOOO time consuming right now, but it will reward you eventually. Glad you're the type of guy that can suck it up and trust in the long-term results instead of only focusing on the short-term.
Cheers

Talking about that old couple who disrupted your filming in the aquarium... isn't that strange that a lot of people feel this need to fuck with you when filming. Yesterday I was filming the bonus vid for the beastmode shirts IN MY BACKYARD, and the creepy neighbor decides it is time to start noisily knocking shit around in his yard.
It's like, "oh heres somebody doing something creative who probably has a cooler more interesting life than me, so I NEED TO disrupt it. If I'm a fuckin loser, I want EVERYONE to be."
People want the attention. They can't handle the fact that someone else is the center. When I'm killing it singing Total Eclipse of the Heart on karaoke, someone always tries to jump in on my mic and sing. Face palm :) It's like, "oh heres somebody doing something creative who probably has a cooler more interesting life than me, so I NEED TO disrupt it. If I'm a fuckin loser, I want EVERYONE to be."
The second video is amazing. Forcing compliance for the shot lol

The feminine spirit leaves when she's being a bitch? Interesting.

It's amazing how life teaches us about feminine energy and how we can repel or attract it. Also really liked the idea about finding the beauty in life despite it not being perfect.
