Of course thats the idea smart guy. They give u the examples to learn the principles u behind it. They lay the founndations. But u do have some merit. Not that its outdated but there are new ideas that have come out since then that makes one think its iutdared but irmts still very relative

Foundations is still based on following a structure and using techniques. It's looking at your actions rather than your mindset. I agree push pull works, but i'd rather use my own versions that resonate with me.
