Honestly also don't think its levels above Portland for pickup. I don't think SF is that much better than Denver for pickup.
At the same time, you gotta deal with where you've got it.
Vegas, if you can get a job there, is the best. Austin is good too.
But man, don't let these gay roadblocks keep you from your goals.
Like, honestly, do you think there are APPROACH MACHINE guys who really live in ABUNDANCE in cities like Portland? (Sure, but they aren't getting BLOWN OUT they're more like Evil Stifler who are just chatty w everyone and always in a good mood...figure out how to go for that "method" if you want.)
You in undergrad or grad school?

I am from Portland myself. I'm really glad you made this post because I feel the same way. Portland is full of chodes (ie the bouncers and bartenders). With all of the hipsters, it makes game fairly hard here. I've been 86'd from two places so far (one is a dive bar), I've also almost been shot at another bar (russian guy, prob. mob.)
I really like roadrally's Vegas suggestion. Do you know what the apartments are like down there? The saftey?

lol... Being from New York, just the idea a bunch of bouncers would remember who you are is hilarious to me. Go finish your degree somewhere else, dude. Portland sounds like a fucking village. "That guy tried to hit on us, let's go report him to the bouncer!" Fucking lamers.
I spent a few brief months in Seattle a few years ago. I did not find the weather depressing. I liked the constant drizzle and people were all laid back, though they also all seemed to be potheads. But what I really wanted to point you toward was this:

One of the best resources out there.
Best of luck, man.

Seattle is cool man its my 2nd favorite city after SF. But I haven't lived in NYC so I'm pretty sure it would be either #1 or #2 otherwise.
If you have a problem with hipsters I don't know why you would consider SF tho. Honestly it's cool I love it here but the women aren't super hot or anything. They're probably hotter than PDX girls but its all relative. The hottest women in SF are tourists.

You gotta check yourself if your getting 86'd or any similar BS...
I never understood why people considered it bad to run into the same girl. For me, I've found many women say they've seen me before and other times how they actually wanted to meet me 1st time they saw me.
IMO, if you are cleary being branded as "hitting on girls" then your TRYING instead of being a fascinating man who is just social. From this position you just show up.
A venue isn't going to care if you buy drinks or not so longs your bringing value (in this case fun and goodtimes) to the venue. One of my fav venues the manager would give me drink tickets because by me simply showing up meant the venue was surely going to be upbeat.

Unfortunately this isn't the only incident I've had recently. I got into a confrontation two weeks ago at another of my favorite spots, a small bar that I go to multiple times a week. It was mostly the other dudes fault, but I escalated things when I shouldn't have. The staff didn't ask me to leave, but they definitely remember me. Another incident like that could get me 86'd. Another venue that I go to every wednesday had me speak with the doorman last week. He told me that I'd gotten several complaints, and that I'd have to calm down and stop "hard selling" girls. Again, these are complaints that have been accumulated over months and months of going to these bars every week on the same day.
With the only real viable spots for game on tuesday and wednesday now in jeapordy, my game schedule may be down to 3 days a week, which in my mind isn't acceptable. But what can I do? The problem is that these clubs are incredibly cliquish. The same sets are always there, I talked to two girls today who said i'd opened them 4-5 times. I recognize tons of sets. I've got a reputation at these two venues by now because I'm an approach machine. I do it anyways because atleast its an opportunity to berate my brain with social pressure and learn to not give a fuck, on top of building social momentum for the rest of the week. That said, it still sucks, and as previously mentioned, this system is falling apart.
So where to from here? I guess for now I'll just make due with what I've got. But in the long run... I think Portland is getting too small from me. I've always had plans to move from Portland eventually, it's not a great city from game. However, recent events have made me reconsider how urgent the need to move is. I'd always hoped to complete my degree at Portland State before moving, but that will take 2 years. I may be better off transferring my Mathematics degree to a university in some other city, and finishing there. LA is too expensive, but maybe Seattle? Maybe San Franscisco?
Any advice is appreciated.
