Great article!

You may like this video as well, around 33 minutes in is the part that's related to your post...

What you'll find is that as you get the experiences you want in life, you realize they don't make you happy and you have to re-think what activities ACTUALLY make you happy.  A lot of the time this can be little bullshit that was in front of your face the entire time, like riding your bike or eating at restaurants with your buddies.

For me it became teaching BC again, which I would have viewed as a menial task as the business grew.  I realized that I grew this whole business, but why did I get into it in the first place?  I just wanted to have students to teach BC to, because I liked teaching.  So my main hobby became what many people would think of as a menial task.

This is also really important if you ever become famous, because you especially can't live through your ego since your reputation tends to go up or down through events outside your control, so you have to be grounded in those daily things that you really enjoy.  The higher a tree grows the deeper it's roots have to go.  Those little things that you really like are basically the roots.

this was very thought provoking and real.
i THINK i see where you are coming from. I will not pretend I know, because I havent had those illusion shattering experiences...

this post was so great for people who have already begun their development..but a caveat I would put is it can be harmful to someone just beginning their journey. to someone so brainwashed by all the shit society says its hard to know how to be truly yourself. I didnt know..maybe i still dont. but if i didnt have rsd to point me in atleast the right direction towards shore, i would be lost at sea for a fucking long ass time. by analogy, atleast know i know to go north. i just finished reading mastery and the talent code, and one of the main points towards getting good at anything is having a great teacher to instill in you what the "sought". but to a total beginner, traveling down the masters footsteps can help them find what the master "sought". there is no need to reinvent the wheel.

on a sidenote, do you think that achieving financial success is a worthwhile goal (or perhaps means to a separate goal)? In other words...if you had 5 million dollars with your current values, would you be happier?

thanks for sharing
