In case this isn't a troll: after you inhale it (just deeper than normal), you do realize that you have to exhale it... If you try to talk before doing so you'll just choke.

After a few seconds its just nothing but tar and other chemicals being absorbed so take small, shallow puffs vs deep inhalations.

Inhale the smoke, remove the pipe and inhale fully so all of the smoke is in your lungs, then hold for three seconds. Any longer won't help.
