A young boy went into the bush to hunt with his bow and arrow. He saw a monkey on the branch of a tree and aimed his arrow. The monkey spoke to him, "Stop. You must think before you shoot me. If you kill me, your mother will die and if you do not kill me, your father will die."

My take:

The monkey is talking bullshit to save his ass. Just kill him if it was your intention, don't buy into his stuff.

He stops and thinks, as the monkey suggests. His rational mind realizes that the heat and lack of food must be getting to him as he rationally knows that monkeys can't talk. Therefore he shoots the monkey and brings it home to mom and dad, who are both very proud of him.

The monkey represents the nonsensical, irrational and meaningless rhetoric of women. If he listens to her dire warnings which imply a no-win situation, he will be afraid to pull the trigger as he fears a part of himself will die. If he ignores the meaningless chatter and launches his arrow, he gets the monkey (girl) and he realizes that there are no dire repercussions for launching the arrow. No one has died, no tragedy has occured. He has learned to be a man, to overcome fear, to ignore the meaningless words of women, and to take what is rightfully his.

I think the answer is supposed to be that there is no answer.

That's why I have no problem just killing the monkey and being done with it. Unless he told good jokes. I'd keep him around if he amused me.

Actually, I would first ask him how he knows my parents would die, and by what means. His answer would determine whether he lives or dies.

This is weird even for RSD, and that's saying something.

OP, are you a descendant of Shroedinger? I know, yes and no, right?
