Let it go man, let the newbies do the right things for the wrong reasons, could be worse.

As another poster said, it would be pretty stupid not to take Tyler's adivce. At least try it, not because he is God, but because he is a guy that is constantly and successfully changing himself.

It's true, we should be concious of what we accept as truth, or else anything might sneek in that could be harmful, but that is also a learning process for itself.

First of all, research is showing that people need to eat more Omega 3 which doesn't exist in large quantities in olive oil. In fact our switch to this kind of oil product has been linked to obesity and heart problems. I still have resaerch here. Secound, if your loose weight and your very hungery, your diet needs work. Lastly, it sounds like bro science which is a well known mix between bronesss, magic, and made up science.

Even worse, on Mark's Daily Apple there's scores of people adovcating eating more and more fat JUST to satisfy the feeling of hunger. One dude with heaps of posts was advising someone to eat (drink?) 4 tablespoons of olive oil like he did, just to sate hunger. I understand good fats and all, but that's ridiculous and that WILL be harmful in the long run.

How is that going to be harmful in the long run exactly?

I don't see a problem relying on advice of guys 1) you trust 2) have researched the hell out of it. That's not to say I'd take tylers word for it, but it would make me research it to see where he's coming from. Rather than ignore obvious bullshit passed off as fact, like what I quoted ;)

btw with the Paleo thing....

My main thought on it is this.

There's only so many carbs you want to take in a day before you become a bloated motherfucker.  So if you're gonna take some in, it's all good, but take in something that's dense in nutrients.

So basically if I want to pig out on carbs it's all good but I'm gonna do it with food that's gonna load me up with tons of healthy shit, not bread or pasta or rice just so I can taste a nice "texture" in my mouth.

To me Paleo is basically just "don't eat unnatural foods and minimize refined carbs".  I also like their ideas of retraining the body to run off of fats over sugar, and the general lifestyle of being happier person and lowering cortisol.

IMO it just intuitively makes sense.  You can't really call eating nutrient dense food and minimizing non nutrient dense food a "fad diet" or whatever, right? :)  My main inspiration for my diet was actually "150 Healthiest Foods" by Jonny Bowden and the general philosophy that if you just eat really healthy foods and stay active you're good.

A big thing in the bodybuilding community is that when making ur macronutrient profile, u determine your protein and fat intake first (based on ur lean body mass), then the leftover is carbs... however for some larger dudes this could result in 300-500 grams of carbs a day. so what you are saying Tyler falls completely in accord with that
Those diets are generally centered around dealing with hard earned muscles mass. They don't want to loose muscle. They are trying to maximize fat lost. They are not looking for "weight loss".

As far as playo goes, I will beleive it when I get a research article that says it is healthy. I jumped on the atkins diet wagon and years later, I was sitting in nutrition class hearing about all sorts of health problems that people are having becuase of this kind of diet. I am going to take a step back and let everyone else be the lab rat this time!

This article has all you need to loose body weight:

I believe a lot of community guys arent the type to just "believe" and start new habits just because someone told them too.

Personally, I stay away from food preservatives (especially in meats). I eat fruit, green leaf veges, and other nutrient rich foods. One thing I do differently than  a lot of guys I read about here is stay away from Supplements. I simply do not trust them as they arent regulated.
