There is lots of critism on that experiment.
In fact, I did that experiment (a reproduction of it, that is), and I was the only subject (out of 7) who was conscious BEFORE they could pick up brain activity of it! Ha!
(But then she ran a different analysis and my consciousless came after the brain signal ... :p)
but maybe because that is I have a different definition of intention? of because I meditate, my threshold for subconcious/conscious is lower?

i think this is why meditation and mindfulness practice is so golden, as it is essentially a proces of de-programming or de-conditioning your mind of the fixed behavioral patterns.
(and also, by becoming more aware of it, you create some "space" in which you can choose to react different, thereby reinforcing (conditinning) diffenerent behaviors).
mindfulenss helps you escape auto-pilot

Afterwards they showed the brain activity and six seconds before he actually pressed the button the ”decision” was made up in his brain.
The scientists could actually predict six seconds in advance which button he was going to press.
So the conscious ”you” that you think are making decisions is actually just the last part of the process. Your subconscious makes your decisions ”long” before you have any idea.
Your subconscious is a complex mix of basic instincts mixed with all the input you have had from your surroundings (society etc) until now. Based on all this information your subconscious tries to make decisions that will benefit you from a survival perspective.
Your subconscious has emotions as its weapon to force you into certain actions, and in most cases your conscious mind just rationalizes the actions after the fact.
You are already on auto pilot, your ”faith” or whatever you want to call it has already been determined. If what you consciously want differs from the path that your subconscious has you on you will feel resistance, however in most cases it doesn’t really matter, most people are never able to create a new path.
The only way to create a new path is to force yourself to the action you consciously KNOW is the right action to take. And this is a tedious and LONG process.
It ones was your conscious mind that programmed your subconscious so you CAN do it again.
Depending on your situation its like for 20 years eating bad food and becoming fat, and now wanting to become fit, it will take allot of time, and the only way is through repeated action. You can NEVER EVER think/read your way there .
Eventually you will reprogram you subconscious and then you have the power of your emotions to your advantage, meaning that it will become FUN and even addictive to chase your goals.
Tyler mentioned that he cant understand how people don’t go out, that’s simply because after 10 years of doing that his subconscious sees it as vital for his survival and will provide good emotions to get him to continue and bad emotions when he doesn’t. A “chode” will have bad emotions associated with going out and good emotions with staying home.
Mental masturbation or spectatorism is one easy way to temporarily get the good emotions associated with our goals by tricking our minds that we are taking the right action. We will make things more complicated so that we can read more and buy more self help books and continue to trick our minds that we are changing so that we can have good emotions in return.
The same is true with things like the ego etc, we grasp onto complex concepts that doesn’t really require any action, we can “think” away our ego and then everything will be fine that’s why its so compelling.
If you really think about it everything you want is theoretically very easy to attain, so many people have done it before you and laid out the path in clear text.
The path is laid out, you just need to walk it.
Try this exercise:
Think about something you want to do e.g. fucking hot girls.
For a split second your minds tells you all the steps you need to take, you already know them. But then your subconscious is activated and with emotions reminds you that that is not the preplanned route for you. Now all of a sudden everything becomes complex and naturally your start to make excuses, genetics, looks, your background etc.
Now try the same thing for getting in shape or making money, your mind gives you the steps right away, its so simple until YOU make it hard.
There is no such thing as “baby steps” or starting slow, in fact that is the worst thing you can do. The best thing you can do is to overdo it, after this long time you must use brute force.
Ask yourself do you like being a little bitch?
You probably don’t, but the fact is that you are your subconscious little bitch, the question is will you stay that way or make your subconscious your little bitch instead. If you succeed you will be like a king of Egypt, with an enormous army of slaves building you anything you want.
