Rape is pretty common.  Women don't go to the police because it was with someone they knew, the guy wouldnt' take no for an answer.  The woman thinks no one will believe her.

Not stupid at all. Most rapes happen between friends and acquaintances and are not the "scary lurker in the parking garage" type of situation.

Say you're a girl, hammered at some house / frat party, and go off into a room with some dude. Not only is she going to be afraid of having people not believe her, but she's likely experiencing all sorts of shame, embarrassment, and fear of the whole process of going to police, pressing charges, etc.

No it's stupid to let fear, embarrassment, shame and all of that bullshit stop someone from reporting a rape.  It's retarded.  People need to grab their balls more.
