in starwars the jedi and sith would meditate to connect with the force

by meditating perhaps we are connecting with the force within, unlocking the full potential of our brains

What i didnt mention were the bad parts of Vipassana meditation..

It makes you way too sensitive to tension and awkwardness in your body. Making it hard to look people in the eye, and ultimately making you a less social and relaxed person.
You get bad hangovers from it the next day unless you keep it up.
It is NOT good for your game. My game went from good to 0 after meditation.

If i still had access to that account I'd rewrite this thread. Its very biased

Was pretty stoked about it, but it got less when I read the last few pages. For those who have done it, please report back.

How are you now though, seriously?
I'm open to go to a retreat just as an experience of a lifetime and expansion of my horizons. At the same time I think, after reading your follow-up I think it might be bad to get sucked into meditation AS A DRUG, eg. more than 30min a day or so.

So... how are you now? In another thread I read that you now try only to meditate 10min or so twice a week, otherwise it makes you too self-conscious. Let's just call it as it is: You were addicted to meditation.

The question is, did the vipassana retreat make you addicted or did it spiral out of control afterwards? How did you recover? Essentially, I mean, did vipassana leave any scars on you or would you still recommend it?

Great thread and lots to take in. I'm really thinking about doing the Northern England retreat in August. Pity there are none in Scotland though. I really fear that I may give up though after a few days. Do you have to stay in one position for ten hours? Or can you move around from time to time?
