EDIT: If you reply let me know if you actually watched it for at least 10 minutes. You can still reply if you didn't of course.

Lots of the shit we worry about is really fucking petty. Unless, you've gone through some tough shit for real (being unpopular in high-school doesn't count)... then ok you can complain, but still a victim mentality won't serve you.

Here are some videos and pictures of people who have it hard for real. Force yourself to watch this. You can watch it for 5 minutes if someone else has to live through it.

If you're living in a first wold country and your biggest concern is hooking up with girls and posting about it on RSDN you've got it easy. So when you're feeling sad about some girls not liking you, or not being rich, or being short, or not being good looking... remember it's just "trouble in paradise!".

EDIT: If you reply let me know if you actually watched it for at least 10 minutes. You can still reply if you didn't of course.

Yeah, we feel bad about ourselves, so in order to feel better, let's watch all of these people starving and burning to death etc, that'll make us feel REALLY good. I dunno about you, but I find "people who are suffering" to be a VERY shitty model for "how to feel good about yourself". Just seems a lil fuckin retarded to me, I never bought that "but there are kids STARVING somewhere else, you should feel SO BAD for them!" line. My feeling bad for them doesn't help them for shit, and it certainly doesn't help me either.

This makes my appreciate more. I recently broke my ankle, and I am in cast and I can tell you its really shit, but in contrast to these I am 100% healthy, and I thing seeing these things is really good, I used to hate it when I have to wake up every morning at 8 to go at school, but after seeing how fucked up other people lives are, I said fuck, I am the luckiest person in the world.

I find that this tactic actually makes a guy feel WORSE about their situation.

You start to think, "I don't have near the disability that these people have and I still can't overcome my problems.  Now I really hate myself."

Plus, this tactic does not help society.  You're sending the message that being a burn victim is something that the rest of society should look at and pity.  They don't want that, they want you to view them as normal people, which is what they are underneath the scar tissue.

How did this get twisted??
Koolaid is merely saying, the majority of you don't have any BIG PROBLEMS.
And than he posted videos of people who have BIG PROBLEMS.
Not to feel sorry for them.
Not to make you feel better in relationship to them.
The videos simply emphasize HIS POINT. You don't actually have any REAL PROBLEMS.
Your problems are MINOR PROBLEMS.
And their is no point in throwing a pity party over minor problems.

I interpreted the original post as a "wake up" call for those in the community that need it.
If you don't need a wake up call.
Move on.
This doesn't apply to you.
And if you still feel sorry for yourself. Or crappy about your life.
Go back to the videos.
At least your problems can be overcome with a little effort and motivation.
And that should be INSPIRING.
To realize in the big picture of life, your problems are MINOR.

Actuallt this is stupid. If you live in the first world and if you pay taxes then you are invariably responsible for a lot of this shit. Be sad very sad.

EZDoesIt said it well. Plus did you actually watch the videos? I mean this video addresses your point where they interview a burn victim.

And they aren't normal people. They're stronger =)
