Tropic Thunder has like 4 ego crashes in it, maybe more. Not something you really expect from a stoner comedy.

I second Fight Club. When Jack is in the hotel room, and Tyler is putting the last pieces of the puzzle into place for him, and Jack realizes that he's inevitably rushing toward the only answer that makes sense.

"We have just lost cabin pressure"

He realizes who's been directing his own life.

REVOLVER! - awesome movie.  I had an ego click moment after watching that and the Peaceful Warrior - when I suddenly noticed my ego talking, and then said to it "I don't need to listen to you anymore" - which was followed by a surreal moment of clarity which I have not been able to replicate since.

Want to watch them again actually!

His entire behavior throughout the movie is one long ego see saw of validation and devalidation. Is he a murderer, is he not? Is he Patrick Bateman or is he that Marcus guy that Paul Allen mistakes him for? He's suffering the angst of just signing up for the yuppie life plan and has lost all sense of who or what he is. It could be any scene really, when he's crying hysterically or when he's holding in the turmoil but you can still see it in his face.

Ok, I can see how American Psycho (favorite movie, seen it many times) can bring up some argument about ego-things but I don't agree with you fully,

Interesting to see it from that perspective though.
