People who say you cant go to the ground in a streetfight have no idea what they are talking about. they think as soon as it hits the ground 5 people will jump out of nowhere and stomp you. I have never scene it....i have watched some huge 10 on 10 brawls though

"Taking" it to the ground may not always be practical.
But since there is a very good chance that it will end up there whether you like it or not, knowing what to do there is a good idea.

Yes.  In an emergency, a fast armbar can break an arm, and then you have one less guy to worry about when you get back to your feet.  I'm going to learn a striking art first though.

I think any form of grappling is useful, as long as you supplement it with some standup fighting skills as well.

I thought the point of the thread was that BJJ can teach you some sexy positions to fold your girlfriend into.

Why take BJJ? To add to your Kama Sutra repetoire.
