IMHO, there are at least 3 keys to success in anything (note the order):

1. Doing your own thinking

2. Acting through your own intentions

3. Figuring things out for yourself as much as possible

Why are these 3 things important?  Why is the order important?

Let's look at doing your own thinking.

The reason that most people don't get what they want is because they don't know what they want.  Obviously, by definition, this it ture.  How could you get what you want if you don't know what it is?

But the real question is: Why don't they know what they want?

Because they don't do their own thinking.  How can you know what you want if you don't do your own thinking?  You have no ownership of an idea if you don't think it yourself.  In fact, in a sense, ideas you don't think yourself aren't real to you.

This feeds into the second concept: Acting through your own intentions.  Obviously, you can't act through your own intentions unless you know what you want.  In fact you obviously have to first know what you want to act through your own intentions.

These 2 ideas feed into the 3rd idea: figuring things out for yourself.  It is only by doing your own thinking and thus acting through your own intentions that you can figure things out.  How could you possibly figuring anything out without doing your own thinking and then acting?  To figure things out you need both thought AND action.  In fact, the 2 reinforce each other.  Thinking refines action and action refines thinking.

As much as possible you need to figure things out if you are going to be successful at anything.  Obviously, it is OK to occassionally ask for help as we all get stuck some of the time.  Also, you only have so much time to figure things out.

Why is figuring things out so important?

Becuase it is only by figuring things out that you own it, that you make it yours.  Until you figure things out you can't internalize it and make it a part of simply who you are and until you own it you won't be truelly successful in anything.

You're absolutely right.

It makes the whole experience more enjoyable. You own your work, instead of mimicing someone elses work.
Plus it is always easier to follow something you created then tryign to step by step follow someone elses process.

Great post blackjack...I need to read things like this from time to time so I can keep myself on track. Not only in PU but my other aspirations.

I have noticed a few other things I wanted to add.

The more you do your own thinking the more decisive you become.  The less you second guess yourself.  The more alpha you become, the more confidence you get.  This, BTW, helps in building attraction with women smile.

Also, this whole process IS the process of "strengthening your reality".  It is LITERALLY like building a muscle, a la Blueprint.  Essentially, you are breaking down and rebuilding your reality again and again.  You are shaping/ building the muscle of your perception of reality in such a way that it best serves you.

Nice ideas.Act threw your own intentions and knowing what you want is great.

But in this world we aren't alone. We interact with people and we are influenced by them one way or another either if we don't want to admit it.

Sometimes the way we think and act doesn't bring us the results we want and we have to change.

Let's say for example that someone wants to find a girl but he doesn't want to do cold approaches,he only waits for a friend of his to introduce him to a girl.He may find a girl eventually. But if he is willing to change his behavior,he will have better results.

IT's ok to act threw your own intentions but it is necessary to be flexib;e aswell and do what it works.

I toatlly agree with the third part and this applies to pick up.As long as you don't figure things out for yourself you cannot embrace them. This means the best way is to do the whole journey by yourself.NO SHORTCUTS.

Good points especially the first one. Except for the last one, sometimes it's easier when solving a problem, to see how others have solved it before you. But sometimes you have to figure things out in your own way. People do things differently.

"Thinking refines action and action refines thinking."

Excellent idea. Also by working things out for yourself you can become self-validating because you are designing your own sense of self.

For anyone who wants to strive towards this I recommend doing something that you would usually tell your friends about but instead keep it a secret. Instead you feel good because you think it's cool, not because somebody said or agreed with you that they thought it was cool.
