Day 1

Today should really be day 4.  I meant to start on Friday the day after my finals.  Fitness has been a goal of mine and Ive been working on it since December.  First I tried very high cardio with little weightlifting.  My thoughts were id cut the fat then add a bunch of muscle.  I did almost no weightlifting.  I got into decent cardio shape but I didnt lose much weight.  I remember how TD had added a bunch of weight and then cut back.  Well I didnt want to go that route.  Being overweight is something that has terrified me all my life.  Because of it Ive been borderline overweight but never really a fatty.  But I think I realized that I didnt have enough muscle mass to burn enough calories.  So I switched over to weightlifting with almost no cardio.  I put on muscle mass and I increased all my weights significantly but I wasnt getting the results I wanted.  At about this time I got into finals mode and dropped it all as I reconsided my options.  Now Ive decided upon P90X.  It seems like the right balance of weightlifting and cardio.  I though I would jump right in and be fine.  I was wrong.  The time off from the gym with the bad eating habits of finals time with the heat and humidity of Miami kicked my ass in only the 1st 4 exercises of the first work out.  I ended up in the bathroom dryheaving.  This really scared me because Im committed to this and for a second I thought I might be in a bad spot.  I wasnt even tired really either so it was like wtf?  I decided to make some adjustments to see how it would help me.  I through out all the junk from finals and went shopping for all new healthy food.  I wanted to get 2-3 days of eating right into my body.  I made sure I was hydrating constantly.  But most importantly I set my subconcious mind to telling my body that this was gonna happen so it had better get ready for it.  The other adjustment I made was to cut the water I was drinking as I worked out.  I could feel it all sitting in my stomach and that made me a little queasy.  Also I took a 45 minute break to cool my body down in between the 1st and second rounds.  I still have Ab Ripper X to do later today which I plan on doing in the evening before I have dinner.  Here is my results from my first back and chest workout.

Standard PushUps

The top number is the first round and the bottom is the second.  On all the pullups I can do 50-70% of the pullups before I need a little help with my legs.  My goal is by 90 days to be able to do 10 of any of the pullups without assistance.

Day 2

I finished up Ab Ripper X yesterday.  Today Im sore all over my back chest and abs.

Today is Plyometrics X.  I just did the first half and it burned my ass out quick.  Im gonna wait til tonight to finish it up.  I think the common theme Im seeing here is that Im not up to this workout at all physically.  But I know I can do it mentally.  So my goal is to stick with it and just keep improving.  I might end up repeating the first 30 days but who cares.  I can see my ripped body in my mind and Im gonna stick with it.  Good thing its summer cause I couldnt have done this during a regular semester.

Interesting to see how this turns out. Most people quit this program. But if you have the determination to finish it youll be in phenomenal shape

I appreciate the encouragement.  I just finished up the second part of the plyo x.  My ass is fully kicked at this point.  I started posting this on here because I want the positive peer pressure to keep me from pussing out.  I do a lot of visualization of what I want to look like at the end.  Its very helpful for me to think about my long term happiness and then compare it to the short term pleasure id be getting by not getting my ass kicked every day.  Sure it would be nice to not be sore and exhausted, but not nearly as nice as it will be to be shredded and have the added inner game of knowing that not only am I a man, but I look like one too.  And women can see it before I even open my mouth.  Staying focused on the end result that I want is what helps me to stick with it.  Tomorrow is gonna be brutal when I do the ab ripper again.

As you can see my weights gotta less and less as I went on as I was getting burned out.  Thats okay as long as I keep improving it every single time I do it.  So far I feel very good about this.  I even like the soreness because I know it means Ill be seeing results soon as long as I keep pushing it.

Day 4

Yoga today.  I totally got my ass kicked by Yoga.  Yoga is a no frickin screwin around workout and I have much respect for anyone who can do it.  I got through 40 minutes of a 90 minute tape and was done.  In years past Id count that as a failure and probably abandon the whole thing.  But instead now I see it as something to improve off of.  Next time I do the Yoga workout Ill be stoked if I can get to 50 minutes before I out.

Day 8

The day off is nice.  I sleep so deep when I get my ass kicked by a good work out.  Today was chest and back and I was going at a good pace.  I did the whole first round and then made it through 4 exercises and found my self in the bathroom dryheaving.  This workout is so intense even with a fan blowing on me I can overheat very easily.  Anyways I ended up going out and doing stuff and when I got back home at midnight i finished up the workout and Ab Ripper.  I totally just wanted to go to bed, but I keep my eye focused on the long term goal and my vision of how ill be and i make the short term sacrifice for it.

Day 9

Today was Plyometrics X.  I jumped my ass off and even though Ive taken the recovery drink I know my ass is gonna hurt tomorrow.  Once again it was a major mental battle to get it done but I focus on the vision I have and I cant let myself out.
