Big announcement: I have just finished my book. It took almost a year of non-stop effort, but it is finished. Like, FINISHED finished.

DONE.

I sent it off to the editors this week, which means it should be released very soon. The title of the book is “Nine Ball.”

A lot of people have asked me what this book is about. Is it another pickup guide? Is it a collection of stories? Is it a new method? Tactics?

In actuality, it is none if these things, and all of them at once. This book is unlike anything that has been heretofore released in the community. It is an intensely personal charting of the INNER JOURNEY of learning the game, addressing the changes to your identity and reality that come with doing so.

Now, I don’t intend to disparage any other books about the game, but a common complaint that I’ve heard from guys over the years is that they often lack a certain element of “reality.” Back in the day when I was just sorting all of this stuff out, I wished there were more first-hand anecdotes about the “gurus” having awful nights of backturns and blowouts. Later on, when I started getting numbers but flakes, I found myself wishing that there was something that explained what THAT felt like. As I started to get better and better, I began to run into weird “ancillary issues” like drama, haters, unconscious misogyny, etc. None of the pickup material addressed that. It was always the same story: “Guy is a complete nerd. Guy learns about the game. BOOM… guy is suddenly a pimp, and gets the sex life of his dreams, lives happily ever after.”

Unfortunately, that's absurd. It's not as simple as POOF...here's some game, start banging bitches and have a perfect life!

I wanted this book to be the missing piece in the puzzle. It’s a story, a memoir if you will, dealing with the themes of love, identity and the illusion of control. It’s extremely ambitious in scope, and I guess only time will tell if I succeeded. I think I have. It’s written from a first person perspective, and the reader is trapped in my head as it all unfolds over a period of fifteen years. I describe the entire journey in vivid prose, leaving nothing out, no matter how embarrassing, pathetic, or cruel. Everything is laid out, in gut-wrenchingly visceral detail. I did not want to make myself look good here… I wanted to be HONEST. That was my ultimate criteria in writing this book, the message to the reader being: the path is not all GLORY TIMES, but if they persevere, the rewards are in fact greater than they could ever imagine.

My lifelong dream, since childhood, was to become a writer, and that is what I’ve applied myself towards ever since. Honing the craft, constantly improving. This book is the culmination of thirty years’ worth of striving towards that ambition. Those who have seen it so far have found it hilarious, shocking, and deeply poignant by turns. I’m confident that it will not only be a kickass read, but inspirational, motivational and applicable.

Unless, of course, you are a KJ. :)

Anyway, watch this space, as we gear up for the launch, we’ll be making more announcements in this thread.

Will this book be marketed to the community, or are you looking for a mainstream release?

It will most likely be a hard cover physical book. Definitely not ebook.

Fuck yeah! Do you get to decide Tyler's humiliation a la Kenny vs. Spenny since you beat him?

When you said you were finished a few weeks ago but just had to edit it, I thought "meh, probably will take 5 years to edit like Tyler". I'm guessing you're a basher and he's a swooper, a distinction Vonnegut noticed between types of writers. As a fellow basher I salute you
