Hey, Sam, thanks for the thread and everything, very useful.

I'm goin to my Junior year of highschool next year, and I'll be playing receiver in football. Could you help me out with any exercises that'll get me reasonably big for football? Not just for football, but also exercises that'll just make me lean and fit.

And, also, what's your take on a teenager such as myself using Muscle Milk and Creatine?

I've been doing max-ot routine for about 5 weeks now,  heaviest weight i can do for about 6 reps til failure.  my goal is to build muscle.

a question though about the fundamentals of lifting, should the max weight i should be lifting, the one that I can do one smooth rep 100% or a higher weight that might not be as fluid form wise but that challenges myself?

for ex: an upright row that I can lift to maximum height vs an upright row that i may only lift to 85% like my around my chest area but that is more challenging in terms of weight.

I'm curious about hearing some feedback/results reports from people who have made changes in their diet/training/lifestyle. Give me some feedback! Let's hear it.

Thanks in advance dudes.
Ok then......
I'm feeling the love . Since following your diet advice my pants have become too big and i have to now buy new ones.

Overall great advice - Lost bulk, but have much more symmetry, leaness and strength - Except for the pudgey bit on my lower abs - it just won't shift. How can I tell if it's fat or fluid retention?

The dairy thing didn't work - previously thought I was lactose intolerant. Tried organic milk, yoghurt and cottage cheese. I farted so much I almost peeled all the paint off the walls. So I guess I must be lactose intolerant.

Hmm well if I want to take the step to cutting carbs, sugars, grains, that will pretty much help a ton.  Fuck man that'll be hard.  The food I usually eat when I'm hungry and nothing else is around is cereal.  It'll be totally worth it, but super difficult.

Since I read all 58 pages in this thread in one day, 7 weeks ago I have...

* Stopped eating carbs. Took me 2 weeks to "convert", will never eat those poisonously, insulin triggering carbs again. I'm a bit pissed off how fooled humanity is.
* No real hunger or sugar lows like before
* Gotten my whole family on this diet and they are stoked
* Started weight training - powerlifting style
* Been doing lots of Interval training
* Added 1kg to my frame while losing x amount of fat, almost a 6pack by now

I'm so grateful, thank you so much SAM

And to everyone else, be proactive and do it, once you have the right sources and sources its's so F$^&ng easy

Got a question as well. Organic food cost twice as much, I'm a student but what we eat is pretty damn important so would you pay twice as much for eggs, chicken, meat?
How much of a difference do you think it makes?
My strenght seems to drop when I don't eat carbs. I don't like it.

Why would you stop eating carbs? Just dont eat grains, and go for veggies and fruits.

And doesn't HIT weight lifting give you crazy muscle gain but also really fuck up your joints, ligaments, tendons, etc

Dude that is awesome. Seriously.

The organic question: I try to get food that's raised naturally when possible. It doesn't happen all the time that's for sure. I still buy non-organic all the time due to price. Almost all of us (including myself) have limited $ resources. That's just the reality. Do what you can. That's all I gotta say.

I've got a question, i have been working out at the gym for a few years and have become fairly strong (my goal is to be as strong as possible without becoming huge). Someone recommended that i add some low weight/ high reps days in to my routine, eg 2 high weight days and 1 low weight day per week. Has anyone used a similar strategy? what were your results?
sounds like you don't want muscle hypertrophy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_hypertrophy

the strongest dudes aren't bodybuilders. there's a difference between training for hypertrophy and training for strength and also training for explosiveness/athleticism. bodybuilders focus on flexing with weight (that literally is the key to bigger muscles), you need to focus on just pushing the weight, doing heavy lifts and all compound exercises. stick to deadlifts, squats, benchpress, etc.  (aka compound exercises)

it's not necessarily what you do, but HOW you do it. You need to stick to the basics and do compound movements (deadlift, bench press, squats, etc), going with heavy weight, and going til failure. literally murder your body. it will thank you later when you're taking hits and giving them playing football.

I love football and miss it terribly. Hit it hard dude. Give your all and KILL IT. :)

If I had a son or brother at your age, I'd feel fine about him experimenting with creatine and definitely would want him taking in lots of protein (which supplements is the easiest way). Give it a try. Stay hydrated. Creatine didn't do anything for me, but it does for some people.
