Great post.  Articulated things very well and put this whole myriad of information into perspective.  I am a newbie and I have been struggling with all the things that you said.  But I also have realised some of the things you said myself without realising it.  The baby steps, one thing at a time thing.  I've only got into this pickup stuff.  3 weeks ago I hit a club alone after thinking about doing this for months.  I was really nervous about hitting a club alone.  I did it and I enjoyed it.  Now I could go to a club alone no probs without a second thought.  Next step is to approach ten girls and just say hi whats your name.  Then voice projection, eye contact kino you know...

Point is I dig what you said - develop and perfect one skill at a time.  PU is a skill.  Professional athletes, actors, musicians dont get good overnight and certainly dont get good reading about their skill from a book or an online article.  They spill sweat, blood and tears and do it by perfecting skills every day of their careers.  And like you say its damn hard and thats why most people dont last the pace and give up or dont bother even trying.  Even if someone has a natural ability at something they have to practice, train hard and improve or someone will be better and take what they have.

This community blows my mind in that guys are sharing all this stuff with each other and expecting no return.  Ultimate respect to those guys.  But sometimes there is alot of BS to wade through.  Maybe I am saying this because things are going over my head but I dont think so.  I have an honours degree in Political Science.  I can understand value and belief systems.  I think some guys are really overcomplicatng this stuff big time.  Why are they doing this.  Because I think they do see this as a pissing match.  In my line of work we have an unofficial motto - KISS : Keep It Simple Stupid.    But for me now as a newbie is like starting out in soccer school as a young kid who is poor at sport.  If I learn to run fast, dribble a ball, kick, control and I am faster and stronger than my opponent then im gonna kick ass.  Same with pick up.  If I learn and become good at certain skills then I'm gonna score HBs and blast my opponents.

Do you think Tiger Woods studies the science of his swing or David Beckham the science of his deadball kicks.  They just practice and figure out what is good and bad and tweak things here and there.  If an athlete gets inside his head too much he usually doesnt perform.  Usually when they are against the ropes its the basics that get them through things.  Doing well what they have done for a long time.  Doing what they have trained to do for years or even decades.

The only way to develop success in this game is to learn to enjoy the process, to enjoy taking action.

Zappa's post is amazing. I got so much value from it.

First of all , Zappa , great post !
as

The first ever RSD materiel I had was the Blueprint decoded , and the things illustrated there  actually made sense , because I had experience beforehand ,so the blueprint (and other RSD stuff later on) just gave me an explanation to behaviors I  took  "as is".

good article.i finally figured out the only way to go about it is one thing at a time.its crazy to go in the field with twelve different things on your mind at once.my sole focus right now is slaying my approach anxiety.thats it.i will master approaching.im not thinking about anything else until i get over that.once that is done im moving up to the next step.i think your shooting your self in the foot walking up to a girl worrying about your vocal projection, body language, showing intent and wrestling your aa all at the same time.
