<>==========================================<>

Today I decided to tackle a subject that swirls around RSD Nation a lot.... meditation.

Tyler has long espoused the benefits of meditation for his game, and good old eckhart tolle and his powers of now have similarly permeated the culture of rsd.

However for many, it has all seemed a little "woo woo" for their tastes, some esoteric bullshit that sucks balls in the mist. They yearn for the old days of pickup when PRACTICAL shit mattered.

Well, as it turns out, science has borne out many of the purported benefits of meditation as it relates to your game. Many of the old principles from the days of the usenet groups have recently been shown to have a valid neurological basis for their effectiveness. Meditation, although a more recent trend in these parts, is no different, and in fact ties in with a lot of the older shit if you really think about it.

So anyway, here's the vid:

Well, that's it for me today folks. Got a lot of shit in the pipeline... SUMMERTIME LOVE.

God Bless America.

See you next time.

Awesome vid, I wasn't sure if you meditated or not. Big question for me, obviously you still smoke mj but how often do you do it. I've been tapering back my use and havent smoke in 5 days and my motivation to game is way up. Do you notice it affecting you in any negative ways?

Found one in the app-store called Mindfulness Meditation (one of the first ones). Don't know if it's the one referred to here, but it's really good (and the guy speaking kinda sounds like Jeffy too, lol)

Awesome video, gonna start meditating again tomorrow. It's funny because I did see a spike in focus and just overall mental clarity and "oneness" if you will, when I was doing it regularly. But like you said, it's easy to stop doing it and think "Hey, I'm ok now. My brain works like this all the time." When that's actually not the case at all.

Thanks Jeff

Years of practice. I also plan out everything I am going to say in advance, as opposed to the more improv styl that Tyler prefers.

BTW... Tyler can't stand doing the same bit twice, so that's one reason why he's constantly doing improv and coming up with new bits. Personally, I'm a performer, always have been, from theater stage to music stage to karaoke stage to standup comedy stage and yes, to the RSD stage. I don't care if I've sang the song a thousand times before, for me it's about HITTING THE NOTES and the feeling of it and connecting with the crowd. Good shit is good shit, and let's face it the fundamentals are IMO the most important stuff in pickup anyway.

But yeah I write it all out first and then go off notes. I do full takes and do not do cut edits like a lot of youtubers sometimes do, to a spastic degree. I'll only edit the take if the mic falls off my shirt or something, as happened in this video near the middle lol. It will sometimes take me two or three takes to get it right and hit all the notes with zero or very minimal "umm, ahhh, you know, like" etc.

Sure, sometimes it fucks up my throat, and it sometimes makes me slightly anxious, but overall I find the effects quite pleasant and helpful to my life. Note that when I'm traveling for RSD, I don't smoke at all, nor do I smoke on days I have bootcamp. I don't miss it or fiend for it at all during these periods, so I can take it or leave it. I grow in the yard so its free and endless for me. so basically I only get high all day long HALF the week. During that time I am of course doing a lot of work for RSD as well, but it's mainly doing content and promotion, scheduling, organizing, working on more long term projects when I get the chance and of course, "puffing out of bed and slamming bitchez". I also go to the gym 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day, so I feel fucking exhausted most of the time, for which the weed helps with the pain, and I take naps. I also drink for the pain. So between drinking, errands, gym, fucking, RSD, the Heartofbeast shirts, etc, I'm pretty goddamn busy all the time. it's a life

Getting older can be awesome, or complete shit. It depends what path you're on... every single day, you're either becoming more of a cool, centered guy, or more of a fuckin chode, until eventually you become Choda. Like Yoda but a chode.

Look at some other guys my age, fat as hell, look like shit, Then look at say Mark Sisson, this motherfucker is FIFTY EIGHT.
null

You have to stay in shape, not for fucking aesthetics although that's great, but so you don't turn into a fucing SLUG... once you are over thirty, you gotta watch this shit because it will slide sideways QUICK. That's why I've found it's so important to have your workout and nutrition something SUSTAINABLE LONG TERM... too much and you'll get injured or quit the program, too little and you turn into a fat tired slow bitch, again, QUICK. It's striking that perfect balance that's the trick.

If you're young now I'd suggest you start looking into longevity anti-aging stuff NOW to build the habits early and also have a better foundation going into the older years... I wish I started working out and taking care of my shit earlier, but it too me until close to 30 to get serious about it.

Jeffy,

This is great stuff.  So, I wanted to post some links to your thread, but cant because the forum rules require me to make 30 posts before I post a URL. So I sent you an email with some interesting stuff, including the documentary that was made when they did the study with the buddhist monks called "Mystical Brain"

hope you enjoy!

Any one use hypnosis? I use hypnotic subliminal messages while I sleep. The way I see it your self image comes from the subconscious you can't change that shit with out new streams of self talk. The only way I can see how to change deep subconscious beliefs is to hang out with people who have the beliefs you desire or constantly consciously control self talk and take right actions until the internal view out weighs the previous behaviour.

if you don't tip the pengilium towards the new belief " not behaviour" and hold it there with force you will never change. You almost certainly need external force it won't come from with in "a object doesn't move unless" and your simply not enough if your subconscious doesn't just believe otherwise but knows otherwise. This is why munks can't actually get anything done they aren't negative or positive like luke warm water, it feels good to sit in, but won't cook dinner or keep your food from rotting. I say this after doing a 10 day noble scilence. I learned to control the horse but if I want him to jump through burning hoops and chase down trains and climb over cliffs while i shoot a shot gun, well that's the hard part! That's the living. That's what bitches want

See, this is the type of content that I enjoy. I'm extremely analytical, so any ambiguity leaves me questioning, but the way you presented this in such a concise manner (especially the way you backed up your sources) satisfies my logic and stops me from speculating. Excellent job.

Awesome ideas. This is exactly why guys need to stop worrying about confrontation, tests, and rejection. This is exactly like a martial artist saying "can't I just completely avoid ever being attacked or hit?". I love the parallel to martial arts here. Its really just like Aikido or Tai Chi. The principle is to meet the attack head on, absorb it, enter the opponents space, and then redirect the energy. This could could be compared directly to pickup. You take a hit, absorb it, redirect and plow through.

That infographic you posted was pretty rad - cant wait to test it out. Im kinda uncertain on taking 500mg vitamin C before every single drink though, Ive heard somewhere that excess amounts of it can cause kidney stones, but that might just be some shit I got stuck in my head.

Well, its physical pain so why not take 2 tylenol extra strenght not to feel pain. Should work. Brain will sygnal but physically the person will be numb. problem solved.

But ye meditation helps to calm the fuck down and let chips fall where they may. Im glad to see this trend on RSD arise because I began doing meditation sporadically last year without visiting the RSD nation for the same amount of time. And checked it out yesterday and its like 4 different articles on meditation and its benefits. Its just a big LOL
